Worried about the I-94.

Hi VJs!

When I entered USA I was a J-1 visa holder. Before my visa expired I changed my status for tourist and got approved. The USCIS sent me the approval notice with a new I-94.

When I left America, I had two I-94s, the "old" one from the 1st time I entered, and the "new" one sent by the USCIS.

The lady at the United Airlines took my old I-94 from my passport. I showed her I had 2, and asked if she should take the "current" one instead the old one, and she said it didn't matter.

I can't stop worrying about it. Do you think I might have problems when I go back to the US as my old one was expired? I didn't overstay but I don't know how they control these I-94 things.

My friend said I could send the new one to the ASC, but in the website they ask to send only if you didn't surrender your I-94 when you exited, which I did.

Any thoughts would be very appreciated. I'm just worried because I'm applying for the K3 and don't want to have problems down the road. Thanks to all!

ps- sorry if I posted in the wrong place

I've never heard of USCIS sending someone an I94.

When you change your status inside America (I changed from J1 to B2), they send you the NOA with the I-94 attached.

I've never heard of USCIS sending someone an I94.

Out of curiosity, were the I-94 #'s the same for both? If they were, it shouldn't matter which one they took. Other than that, I am no help, sorry. I would suspect that both are lodged against your passport # in their system, so it only matters the date of your departure, to log it into your account. I do not know this, it is only speculation. Again, sorry, I am not much help. :(

I can't remember as I handed over by the time I left. That's what I hope too, that they search through people's passport number. Also because when au pairs extend their programs the agency doesn't send them another I94, they send a new DS. Thinking from this point of view I think the date on the I94 doesn't matter otherwise all the girls would be out of status.... you know what I mean?
