1-way ticket OK for a new K1?

My fiancee Thailand has her interview for her K1 visa on Dec. 18th and hopefully will be flying to the US soon after (maybe by Christmas?). Some airline tickets are cheaper 1-way. I am wondering if it makes a difference if the ticket is 1-way vs. round trip. I know it does for tourist visa's.

Logically, to me, it shouldn't matter. She is applying to immigrate here anyway - but I don't really know. Anybody have experience with this?

Good luck on your fiancees interview. Make sure that before you purchase the ticket that your fiancee has her visa in her hand. All the best.

I used a one way ticket and I was fine.

You only need a one way ticket for your type of visa (k-1) Dont let anyone else tell you different. Ive heard some of the customs guys have to be told by people like us that this is all we need. Remenber you are only going oneway. Good luck

We went to the Thai Airways ticket office (I think on Silom). The agent tried to tell us Rin had to have a RT ticket. I showed her the visa; she disappeared with Rin's passport to the office area for about ten minutes, then came back and issued a one way ticket BKK to LAX. At that time, the one way was about 60% of the RT price.

I would think they would expect you to get a one-way tickets as the K1 is a one way passage into the USA. However, we got a RT as it was MUCH cheaper.

My fiance came on a Thai air one-way ticket too. It was less than RT and it was the same price even booked 1 day in advance. Booking RT far in advance could possibly be cheaper if you got a good deal.

I bought it online from the US with no problem. I had to fax a form to them since I wasn't travelling but it was easy.
