In general, I think criminal punishment needs to put a larger emphasis on restitution. Murderers should be parted for organs. He/She killed one person but could save almost a dozen (2 kidneys, 2 lungs, heart, liver, retinas, skin grafts, etc).

Thieves should be sold into slavery. Having a moral problem with this is inconsistent. Nobody complains that Bernie Madoff has to spend the rest of his life behind bars. But if we suggest that he should have to work to pay for his support and try to repay some of the people he ripped off, what's wrong with that. We could outsource prisons completely. But instead of paying prisons, they would pay for the prisoners. That's efficiency.

I hear they are making a killing on this.

How is it inconsistent?

Inconsistent if you don't have a problem with prison is what I mean to say. How is confining someone in a prison any more humane than forcing a person to perform the tasks you require of them for the same period of time? I content that it isn't.

Man, America used to be on the cutting edge. It seems China is beating us to everything these days.

I also want to add that an exception could be made for people who only killed a small number of people. They could donate a kidney, a lung, and part of their liver. Kill 3 people, save three people.

Graft and corruption has been a capital offense for a long time in China. There was a lot of corruption in the city where I lived. A couple of years ago, a lot of people were under investigation. Finally, the mayor "committed suicide" by wrapping duct tape around his ankles and wrists with his hands behind his back, and wrapping his head in duct tape so that he suffocated to death.

If a criminal is executed by a firing squad (usually mobile) they bill the family of the criminal for the execution costs.

I guess Bernie Madoff should consider himself lucky that he's not Chinese.

Bernie Madoff would have made sure he was in bed with the Communist Party if he was Chinese.

China executed a CEO and some researcher or something for tainting milk a few weeks ago. At the time, I thought, "man, they don't play around over there!" Then I remembered how Booyah! was always saying how low their homicide rate was.

I guess they don't include govt.-conducted executions in their numbers, do they?
