First off - congratulations guys!

We had our interview on 30 November 2009 in Centennial (Denver), CO. And wow, it was far less involved than it could have been. We went armed with hundreds of photocopied docs (everything that we had previously submitted, plus copies of recently obtained documents - EAD, Social Security Card, Driving Licence etc).

But the immigration officer simply looked at my passport, took my original I-94 and then took the copies I made of my EAD, Advanced Parole, Driver's Licence and Social Security card.

He checked a few basic details - names, address, dates of birth, date and port of entry, date of marriage, names of parents - but that was it. No in depth questions about what side of the bed we sleep on, what we have for breakfast etc (as some people report on this site).

He then asked to see evidence of our relationship - we gave him some copies (really just a few) of our wedding photos, copies of our joint bank statements and the jointly named car insurance certificate and he was happy.

"Welcome to the USA, your Green Card should arrive within 30 days". It did!

By the way - we did not have an immigration lawyer with us. Nor have we ever used one in the entire process. If you can speak English, have no "special circumstances" and can understand basic forms and instructions - they really are an expensive luxury.

Good luck!

HA! Reading this was quite interesting because I had my interview in Denver on November 16th and that pretty sums up my experience as well. He asked a few basic questions to both of us, like what is your husband/wifes birthday, what are her parents names, etc. Nothing remotely difficult or stressful. He also went over part 3 of the I-485 where they ask you questions like, "have you ever been a member of a terrorist organization" or "have you ever been affiliated with the communist party" and asked me to say yes or no in response. Other than that he wanted to know how we met, how long we dated, how often we visited each other, if our families get along, mostly conversational questions that were easy for us to answer. If you want a more in depth account look at my timeline, I wrote up a review.
