Sunny808, I am too worried that they will ask for 2009 tax my interview is March 4 and I dont think we will file by then.

HappyOne, good to know that you got your interview letter. Don't worry about selective service registration, that's only for males 18-26 years old (unless I'm assuming too much and that you are female). Don't worry too about 2009 taxes, 2006-2008 is what is expected at this time of year.

You should NOT be worried. If you go after April 15 and they ask you about the returns, and you say you didn't file, then that will be a situation you should worry about.

I think this is the extent of their questions regarding 2009 tax returns:

They might ask you - did you already file this year?

you can answer - Not yet.

They might ask - do you intend to file before April 15th?

You Should say - yes.

OK that's it! They can't force you to file before the deadline set by the IRS.

Well, I'm feeling a bit left out now, as I'm the only one who still hasn't received the interview letter yet! I really hope it comes soon; my I've had such a long time waiting for the adjudication of my i-751 (14 months and STILL hasn't been approved!) and was really hoping that the citizenship part of the journey would be short or at the very least, timely. I really hope my letter arrives sometime this week. sigh

So how did it go, sukimi?

Approved! My husband is actually the one who was approved and I wasn't able to go with him due to a work commitment, so I can't sum up the interview other than the fact that it took less than 20 minutes and he got to take the oath the same day

Congrats!!!

I'm curious about how your husband was able to take the oath on the same day. Did he ask or was he offered to take the oath on the same day? Do you know if anyone can ask for same day oath or is there some conditions that need to be met?

I'd like very much to take the oath on the same day as my interview day (scheduled for March 9). I'll be going out of the country at the end of April and it'd be great if I already have my US passport by then.

Congrats!!!

I'm curious about how your husband was able to take the oath on the same day. Did he ask or was he offered to take the oath on the same day? Do you know if anyone can ask for same day oath or is there some conditions that need to be met?

He was offered and jumped at the chance. 33 others took the oath the same day. You should mention your trip after you are approved to see what timing works out best. He was told that if he enters the US with his Italian passport, he will give up his US citizenship.
