I just called at the CFO pre-departure seminar and they told me that i need a proof of singleness of my fiance from the US. Now,my fiance doesn't know where to get it. Do you have any idea where to get a proof of singleness in the US?

She called the CFO in CEbu to ask them. That's just what they told her. I'm not even aware of any statement of singleness in the USA. How can they ask for something we don't have? We do have legal documents like tax returns that say our status though.

You know i think it is a bunch of ####### that they want that stuff. For one it is a K1 visa that she has. What do you go threw to get a K1 visa at the Embassy. You have to show the that you are both single.... If one of you are what happens you don't get the visa.. am i right. So if you got a K1 visa from the US then that means you are both single and able to marrie.

The only proof would be an affidavit at the embassy, but that can be lied on...they have no way of checking if you are married or single in the US like in the PI. There is no central NSO in the US. If the CFO pushes this, the only thing he can do is to get an affidavit done stating he is single. You shouldnt need it though if you filed for a k1 visa.

Contact the US Embassy and tell them you need a Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage. That was required from me before we were married this last September. The crazy hag at the registrars office there required me to get a CENOMAR too. The Capacity to Marry was very easy to get - took all of an hour and $30 at the US Embassy there in Cebu. It really doesn't prove a thing as Scott said, but I guess it gives them something in writing to cover their a$$.

Just take a picture of your refrigerator... if all you have in it are beer, mustard & an expired gallon of milk that should serve as proof that you are single

There is really no CENOMAR or a document showing proof of singleness in the US. Perhaps the person was referring to a Divorce Decree is the USC was previously married.

If you want to marry someone in Phil (not K1) then you have to show a notorized statement of your singleness to get the marriage papers in the Philippines for marriage within the country.

For a K1 fiancee I never heard of any requirement that the citizen of another country must show that kind of paper. That's a new one to me. I don't think that's listed as a requirement in the guides here either.

So True............

Just another reason to do your CFO at St. Marys.

They don't ask for a Bull$hit piece of paper about being single.

I would tell them it's K1 Visa, and for them to Shove it up their A$$.
