I am just devasated. We are in the middle of the K-1 process. My fiance has his medical on 12/24 and interview on 1/14. Yesterday the police informed him that a women (ex-girlfriend) has stated that she has a son and he is the father. He went to the hospital and had a test and he said it did prove he was the father. The boy is 11 months old and she just now is coming forward! She wants him to pay. He has no money to pay her. So the police took his passport so he can not leave! I am just crushed.

You have a couple of things to deal with in this situation. But, yes, none of it is insurmountable if you want it to work out.

Good luck!

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

I am sorry that it will delay your process, however it is definetly better for him to know that he has a child in the world then to go on not knowing and never being given the opportunity to see his child grow and to live up to his obligations. There are many challanges in life and part of this committment is for better or for worse. Some things that seem like tradegy can eventually become a great joy and bonding experience. I say better to know now than years down the road...

I don't know you. I don't know your fiance. From an outsider's point of view, please do not send him any money. There is always the possibility that he could be scamming you. Even if he's not you need to let him have time to man up, grow some (if needed), and take care of things on his own.

You are not the only person to be put in this situation. I hope you begin to feel better soon. I understand how this can be so heartbreaking. I am sending you some love and hope you have sunny days soon!

Ok I feel really bad that I implied that he could be scamming her. I apologize if I offended anybody. I worked doing fraud investigation for years and I am very cynical at times. The words money and passport made my claws come out because I instantly felt something wasn't right.

If Original Poster is upset at me, she can feel free to cuss me out in private message. This is definitely not a forum to judge, and I hope I didn't make her feel bad. I lack the ability to filter. Sorry. :(

I want to join Jewel on this. Like her, I am not making any judgement and come from a neutral point of view. I can't help thinking it's very odd this is happening a few days before interview. No matter what, scam or not scam, this is something he's got to deal with and fix on his own. Don't send him any money.

Be strong.

I am sorry Jewel, but I think you were right to say what you're thinking, it's easy to say nice and supporting stuffs, but it's also a friend duty to raise little warnings when it's needed.

It's not easy because once you said such things there's a good chance you'll get the first punch right in the face. It doesn't matter if it's to help a friend.
