Hello fellow VJ'ers,

My fiancée has filed an I-129F petition for K1-visa for me to join her in the states. We have received our NOA1 but awaiting our NOA2.

In advance of my medical examination in London, I've been doing a bit of fishing around to try and get hold of my immunisation records. However, it seems that my medical records do not detail any record of vaccinations. So effectively I have no proof.

I've been doing a bit of reading and it seems that the US Consultate only expect me to have MMR and Td/Tdap (male aged 33). I was thinking that I would schedule these immunisations ahead of my medical and save a fair chunk of change in the process (~£60).

However, before rushing in and getting these immunisations, I wanted to ask any fellow UK beneficiaries in a similar position to me, i.e. no immunisation records, what happened during their medical interviews with respect to immunisations. Which vaccinations did they give you and roughly how much did it cost?

Thanks in advance for any feedback and good luck to one and all with your petitions!

Go to a doctor and see if you can get a titer test.

That tests your blood to see what you have immunizations to and I believe what shots you've had.

See if that's an option.

My fiance is in the same boat. He's had them but they are having a hard time locating the records from that far back....He's going to go ahead and get them because he KNOWS he's not going to have the proof of the records and we don't want to have to spend anymore money than what we have to

Hi,

I was in exactly the same situation; M,33 with no vaccination history. I called my doctor to try to arrange the two jabs (MMR & Td/Tdap) but as I hadn't been to see the doctor for so long they had not transferred my record to computer and had archived my records, they wanted to treat me as a new patient.

I decided against following up with my doctor as I wouldn't be able to see him for two weeks. I went to the medical and one of the nurses asked about vaccinations and offered to give me the two jabs there and then, all very straightforward. If I recall correctly, the two jabs cost £65 from Knightsbridge Doctors.

I'm in a similar position, although F, 28. To make matters worse, any records that I have will be in NZ! There are certain jabs I know that I've had eg Hep A, diptheria because I had them as an adult for travelling in Asia. There are others that I know I had, eg, MMR (required at age 13 in NZ) and Hep B because I had them at school but it was done at school so I doubt there are records. The only one I know I need a booster for is tetanus. I don't even know what TD/Tdap are! I recall that I found some info that said there were lots of shots to have but once you reached a certain age they were no longer applicable. It may have been on the NZ consulate website because that is a good source of info. I will just have any jabs that I think I need to have when the time comes because the more paperwork you can show the happier I think that the US government officials are. Good luck!
