Filipinos are very brand conscious. Also, if you give a used and careless gift, it can be taken as very offensive, and does not give a good first impression, and perhaps itz better to give nothing at all in that case. Itz better to give an in expensive and new gift that just any old hand-me-downs or derelict thrift shop junk that some one else threw away.

One idea I do like. If you have an elderly extended family member, bring a used wheelchair you can get for cheap. Tie a name tag to it, and you check it in for free like luggage, and it will be a very welcome gift for someone in need. There are no Gucci brand wheelchairs! :lol:
