Palin, though notoriously ill-travelled outside the United States, did journey far to the first of the four colleges she attended, in Hawaii. She and a friend who went with her lasted only one semester. “Hawaii was a little too perfect,” Palin writes. “Perpetual sunshine isn’t necessarily conducive to serious academics for eighteen-year-old Alaska girls.” Perhaps not. But Palin’s father, Chuck Heath, gave a different account to [scott] Conroy and [shushannah] Walshe [authors of 'Sarah From Alaska']. According to him, the presence of so many Asians and Pacific Islanders made her uncomfortable: "They were a minority type thing and it wasn’t glamorous, so she came home."

I bet She hates all those Eski-moes too.

non sequitur.

I could understand that ... if her courses were being graded on a "curve".

Danno - this is "off-off topic"

I noticed your country is Russia, so recently I am half way throuth a book titled,

"OFF THE MAP" - Bicycling Across Siberia. (Mark Jenkins)

I got it from the NY public library and not only is it a great travel story but the guy does have some

serious literary chops - meaning it's interesting and funny to read - very fast read despite the theme.

I read 2 other books by Jim Rogers (Adventure Capitalist & Investment Biker) in which he also

went across Siberia but the difference with these guys is that they DIDN'T take the

Siberian railway around the GREAT SWAMP like J. Rogers did.

Kinda reminds me of a book I read a long time ago "The walk west" (IIRC)..... except in your mentioned book the guy is on a bicycle.... but when you are covering like 9 time zones, you had better be on a bike.

I will check it out, sound interesting.

and this is a surprise why? or, better put: who the ** cares?

She will be the Republican nominee for President in 2012. She matters.

Doubtful but it's interesting that the losing VP candidate gets a lot of press even compared to media hog Obama.

The Democrats desperately need a visible enemy to blame and Palin is an easy target though she's got no hand in what's happened nationally. They'll use her as the "threat" to the nation should the Democrats lose power.
