Well my wife is 32 weeks pregnant, and her interview is Jan 5th, so she will be 36 weeks pregnant around the time of the interview. She is due jan 24, but the doctor thinks she might give birth a little earlier, but she is not sure. Anyway, the embassy is about 1 hour away in airplane in the highest city in the world, la Paz bolivia. My wife does not want to go in airplane being scared that the sudden pressure on the plane and arrival at the city might spark her labor, which i think it wont happen. Anyway, she wants to go on bus, and that takes about a whole day and a half to get there.

Should i just postpone the interview or risk it and on on a bus for the interview. I just dont want my wife to give birth the middle of the road mid way to La Paz, or a flight to affaect her preganncy. What do you guys think.

Hi, Im bolivian too, what city is she from? IF she is from Santa Cruz (like me) it takes 19 loooong hours on bus... but she can do it.... she should take a very comfortable bus, and try to get relax, and it is better if someone goes with her.

Let us know ok? Good luck at the interview!!

She'd probably need a Doctor's certificate to fly, most airlines demand it. So start by asking the Doc's opinion.

I personally would rather fly than suffer the discomfort of that long a road trip. Sitting down for that long when you're that pregnant is very uncomfortable. I spent 11 hours on a flight when I was 22 weeks and let me tell you, there's only so long any woman can cope with having baby's feet poking her in the diaphragm. Her logic makes no sense, because she's more likely to go into labour during the 3 days travelling by bus than the 1 day there and back by plane.

If flying isn't an option that late in pregnancy, I would ask the embassy if her interview could be brought forward to asap or postponed til post-delivery.

Timeline Summary:

K-1/K-2 NOA1 - POE: 9 February - 9 July 2010

ROC mailed - approved: 14 February - 18 June 2013

Citizenship mailed - ceremony: 9 February - 7 June 2017

Yeah, she is from Santa Cruz. She will not be alone. I am heading there next to week to be with her till march. I guess we will go on bus because that is what she wants, but i think flying there is best since it is only about an hour. I hope everything goes okay, and that the baby waits till after jan 5th. :)

Well, I'm changing my mind. a 14+ hour bus drive would probably be uncomfortable for my wife, with all the bumps and sitting down. I think flying would be better since it is only a 30-40 min flight. There is probably a greater chance that she will go into labor during the bus trip than on the airplane. Well, see if i can make her chnage her mind though.
