LOST PASSPORT ... Filed for AOS months ago, appt coming up

I filed a AOS for my wife who came to the states 6 months ago through a K1 Visa. Her appointment should be coming up in about 2 months or so and has already received her first NOA.

BUT in the past 2 weeks we cannot seem to find her passport at all. I have photo copies of her passport but I know I will need the original. At this point I can only assume she lost her passport.

What can we do? Will her case be rejected?

Also wanted to clarify, this is her foreign passport with her K1 Visa and I-94 form.

Where's she from? She needs to advise her embassy that her passport has been lost and get a new one. Most embassies will provide a replacement very quickly, as their citizen is effectively stranded without it.

Her K1 is void since she's now in the US and her I-94 expired 3 months ago. You have photocopies of these though?

Timeline Summary:

K-1/K-2 NOA1 - POE: 9 February - 9 July 2010

Married: 17 July 2010

AOS mailed - Interview : 22 November 2010 - 10 March 2011

ROC mailed - approved: 14 February - 18 June 2013

Citizenship mailed - ceremony: 9 February - 7 June 2017

Yes I have photocopies of these. She is from afghanistan. Getting her first passport while she was in afghanistan was painful, I'm not sure if getting one in the US will even be possible.

One way to find out... http://www.embassyofafghanistan.org/passport.html

Thanks for the link.

I'm going to flip the house upside down and then reapply I guess.

Thanks for the help.

One suggestion - go ahead and apply for a replacement passport - although they might give her a lot of headache, but at least you did your part of informing them and attempting to correct the situation.

If her embassy simple is uncooperative, then you have some evidence/documentation which would help when you go to your appointment.

Make copies, and document everything. If you mail a replacement application, create copies of the app, and assuming it is going to be mailed, then get a tracking number and print out your delivery confirmation.

Good luck
