My name is Andrea da Silva. Let me first start off by saying, that in the Summer of 2004, I worked for the Nevada Republican Party, on your campaign. I walked miles daily, in 100+ temperatures, wearing your shirt, carrying your flyers, and knocking door to door, all over Las Vegas & outskirts of Henderson, encouraging residents to register to vote; and to VOTE FOR POTER. I helped you that summer, and now, I'm asking you for help.

It's like you're saying, "Hey, I did you a favour, now can you help me?"

btw, It probably isn't a great idea to put your real address and phone number on here for everyone to see. Just asking for trouble, in my opinion.

Hey, I wrote to my state senantor, local reps, and congressman, all that handle federal issues....here is one letter in particular, with a little more interest than the other.... tell me what you think.

Dear Congressman Poter,

My name is Andrea da Silva. Let me first start off by saying, that in the Summer of 2004, I worked for the Nevada Republican Party, on your campaign. I walked miles daily, in 100+ temperatures, wearing your shirt, carrying your flyers, and knocking door to door, all over Las Vegas & outskirts of Henderson, encouraging residents to register to vote; and to VOTE FOR POTER. I helped you that summer, and now, I'm asking you for help.

I'm addressing a situation that I have to you, because I don't know where else to start. I recently got married in April 2006, in Brazil, to a Brazilian. I have immigration papers in the process at the California Service Center. I filed my initial I-130 form, and have received my first Notice of Action receipt on June 3, 2006. Now, the waiting begins.

I know you must get many of these requests, to help a person's spouse be reunited together again, in the United States, through expediting the application, and my situation, is no better or more urgent than others; but I have to try at least, knowing that I've done all that I can to see my husband again.

It may be even a little selfish to have the CSC consider my application first, by expediting, when I know others' are in more urgent need, such as a disease, or extreme financial peril, or dangerous foreign countries.

For me, I've only spent just barely over 1 month, and not consecutively, with my husband, in person. I'm struggling financially, and having him here, working, would greatly relieve so much stress with an additional income; not to mention, my emotional status that hits lows everyday, from the pain of being separated, and not really knowing, if or when our application will be approved....

For my sanity, and peace of heart, I have to try everything that might get him here one day sooner. And if it all fails, at least I know I did try all that I can; and I can rest at night.

There is no way to describe the incredible pain in my heart of how much I miss my husband. The fight between our countries governments, which sets up a very uncertain outcome; knowing that some cranky consulate worker could deny our application just because they're having a bad day; having our marriage, our life, our "destiny" in the hands of another human, is the most vulnerable feeling in the world. I could face the death of my husband if he was fighting in a war....but it is so hard for me to face the government, knowing that they could keep us apart.

Please help in whichever way you can to expedite my application for my husband. And please offer advice for other avenues that may be of help beyond your reach. Thank you sincerely, for taking time to read my letter. I know you're very busy, and I appreciate you taking a moment to listen to a resident of Nevada. Thank you for all you do Congressman Poter, you have my vote!

Sincerely, Andrea da Silva

I hope you didnt send this...His name is Jon PORTER.

Since you live in Las Vegas...your US Congressman is Jim Gibbons.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

Here's what I think since you aske everyone

Send it away obviously you will feel better. Don't expect anything... I don't believe that your congressman has the authority to expedite your petition for you especially since your reason is heartache.

I personally waited it out for the NOA2 then after that I called everywhere I could everyday because that helped me.

Good luck.

ps. Thanks for the digits.

Here's my $24.99:

Andrea: letter's fine overall....don't think he's gonna do much, but hey, if it makes you sleep at night, that's all good. But it prolly wasn't the best idea throwin it out here...we're all waitin and working so hard at this...and like let's just say it DID work...it's kinda like a 'neener neener' at everyone here...

i'm special' type thing....and no one likes a queue jumper

Plus, let's just say it did work too....well I'm not sure Porter would like the notion that he does personal favors for campaignees...so ya shoulda just sent the letter & been all  here about it

I don't have a probbo with your letter....long as you don't go all TerriO on us *looks around to see who gets that* We're all in the same boat...none of us are in a pissing contest...and to belittile someone who's waiting out the process as not doing enuff is kinda #######. There are good folks here who have exhausted all of their options, and unfortunately, when that's done...all that's left is waiting. They are trying to help you not (as they see) spin your wheels...but of course you want to learn on your own and that's fine too. But just understand where the motive is coming from. No one here is trying to rain on your parade...

Best of luck on your journey (F)

Hi Folks.

I am in dilema. I got IMBRA RFE on July 3rd like most of you and sent it back through overnight delivery which has been received by USCIS. But the USCIS website neither shows any touch(es) nor i ever got any email from them. Is this happening to any one else.? I have subscribed for the email option and i visit the website frequently but No touch ever in the past few months but yet i get the snail mail on time. Can you guys plz shed some light on this.?

You said you sent them through overnight delivery which has been received by USCIS. Then on your next message you said "so I should assume that they never got my IMBRA RFE," sounds like a question than a statement. If you know for sure that USCIS has received (by tracking the mail) your RFE, then you can not do anything except waiting.

Well send it if you feel the need, but to be honest if you get an sort of favoritism I would be one ranting raving lunatic. I started this process in December of 2004. I have spent hours and hours on the phone, sending e-mails, and writing letters requesting that my situation will at least get picked up and looked at. I need my husband her for emotional and financial reasons as well. My brother died and he wasn't here for moral support, my dad has almost died 4 times, and he is not here for moral support. I spend hours and hours each week now taking care of my sick father, and he is not here to help. I have gone to the extent of having my tubes untied so we can have a baby before I get to old, and he is not here to work towards the ultimate goal of a child together. Sure, send the letter.

Sorry, I don't normally get angry at any one who is struggling through this heart wrenching process, but how could you seriously feel good about getting favortism when people like me have to wait that much longer for you to get it?

Andrea: letter's fine overall....don't think he's gonna do much, but hey, if it makes you sleep at night, that's all good.

It does help me sleep at night-

"But it prolly wasn't the best idea throwin it out here...we're all waitin and working so hard at this...and like let's just say it DID work...it's kinda like a 'neener neener' at everyone here...

No, absolutely not! I'm not trying to be "neener neener" If it works, why not try it yourself...(and by yourself, I'm not meaning you personally...) it was meant to be helpful and encouraging to others to try the same thing, or something different

"I don't have a probbo with your letter....long as you don't go all TerriO on us *looks around to see who gets that* We're all in the same boat...none of us are in a pissing contest..."

of course. I'm not at all in a pissing contest...in fact, if you research any posts i make, they're all very supportive. I've not once said what someone was doing was wrong...I actually go this idea from several other posts from this site, and people who said it actually DID work for them...

"and to belittile someone who's waiting out the process as not doing enuff is kinda #######. "

I dont' see how i was belitting anyone...??

"There are good folks here who have exhausted all of their options, and unfortunately, when that's done...all that's left is waiting. They are trying to help you not (as they see) spin your wheels..."

Well, that's exactly what I'm trying to do...is exhaust all my options, because then I KNOW i tried everything..and there is NOTHING wrong with that. And even if i spin my wheels, well at least I'm moving them...for me, i know eventually they'll take tread, and move somewhere, fast. I only want this for everyone else too.

"Best of luck on your journey (F)"

thanks, sincerely, you too

OH NO YOU DIDN'T JUST MENTION TERRIO??? LMFAO...To the OP, lol I learned the hard way posting something in a thread and mentioning trying to get my case expidited for which I have a very valid reason to do so. But, after contacting my congressman, I was told that even though my son is very ill (and yes it is life threatening) they could not expidite my case. Since then, I have found out that my son is doing well, and have settled into the fact that I must sit back and relax and let what happens happen. I personally am ok with your letter EXCEPT the part where you mention in great detail about how you helped campaign and are now asking for HIS help. ####### for TAT? as they say? Yes that is very wrong and would probably lose a lot of his votes if he were to expidite your case due to heartache. Think about it...do you seriously think that your Congressman will help to expidite for heartache if it means losing voters??? Yes, my husband and I are together waiting out his immigration in the UK, but there was a time where we were seperated for months and months so I do know what it is like. But, you need to sit back and realise that the timelines were there for you to see BEFORE you got married and started this whole process. You knew it was going to take a while. I think if everyone were to get there cases expidited on accnt of heartache, the expidition process would be backlogged and then the K-3, and CR-1 process would pick up lol..hmmmmmmmm...anyone thinking what I am thinking??? lol. Anyhow, bottom line, there are more ppl like me who actually do have legit reasons for expidition, but are not able to get it that have to just wait...and wait some more. Yes, you can do something, keep busy in the political stand and help to change things, but don't go asking for favours...seriously, how would you feel if you asked for a favour, got turned down, then someone else came along and asked for the same favour and yet got it??? You wouldn't like it much would you???

Why should I wait 90 days, when I can write now? What difference does it make but 90 days past? I'll take the chance now-that if they CAN/WILL help, then it might as well be now, 40 days into it, than 90 days....it absolutely doesn't hurt to try. And it's not even about the patience part....it's about being efficient with my time. Preparing now. Sorry if you waited...but I'm not. And good luck to you anyway, I want nothing more than for EVERYONE on this site to be reunited with their honey's tomorrow....but I'm gonna start with myself first.

wanna know what can happen if you send this letter?

the Embassy could very well show up to your house and question your family.

kind of like a " using BEES to honey effect" we all know we dont want bees around our home.

I am saying this -because Ding dong me sent a letter like this to VP chaney. 1 week later.

my husbands family got 2 suprise visits. they showed up with camaras and chit. his mom thought she

was gonna be in a movie. I am still embarrassed over that stunt.

oops let me add.. the embassy question his family and the neighbours.

they took pics of all kinds of chit in the home. mostly the lay out of the house. use caution

when sending letters.

Don't listen to anyone else. You have every right to write to your Congresspersons, just as they have the same right to do the same. Even if no action regarding our individual applications. at least they will see how many people are made to wait too long to be reunited with their spouses (even 90 days is too long, we're married for God's sake). Then maybe they will do something to make the process faster.

As for me, I've only been with my wife for 2 months out of the past 18 months. Thank God we finally have an interview date.

Do anything you can to speed things up. Everyone else is free to do the same. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Wow... I'm just wondering why a letter would trigger this? Just curious!

I find this hard to believe. Why would you send a letter to the VP anyway? Seems you just chose the wrong person to write to.

Joel

It's because Bush and Cheney are the ones who spy on Americans illegally, that's why. They are the wrong people to be sending letters to.
