So I had a medical performed in Canada for my K1 in May... Bc of this I had a CS only complete sections 1,2 and 5 of I-693 for my AOS packet. But this REI letter vaguely requests another I-693. I called the help line but she was clueless--told me they can ask for stuff twice. Is there nothing else I can do before I waste my time and $200+ getting another medical?

October 3, 2009 - Married on K-1!

November 3, 2009 - AOS packet sent

December 10, 2009 - Biometrics

I'm in the same boat as you: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=231677

I don't know what else to do...You might want to schedule an InfoPass

It helps to know I'm not the only one in this ridiculous situation... What's an infopass? I'd look it up myself but my laptops infected and I'm stuck using the Wii remote to navigate and type.

Info pass is where you can schedule a free appointment with an official to discuss your case in person. More info can be found here: http://infopass.uscis.gov/

Most likely they lost your whole medical file that you submitted at POE. If that's the case, they won't have any record of your K-1 medical and you may have to redo your medical here.

Good luck.

Cheers..

Many people get this RFE.

Most respond with a new full medical. You'll have to call around all the CSs again to see if one will be reasonable for the whole exam.

At least one person was successful when they worked with their congress person's office - The liaison from the office got USCIS to locate their physical A-file - which was kept in a different location - and ta da, there was the medical. I don't have vision to the behind-the-scenes, but I think what happens is that the physical file gets filed away, and they are only working with your electronic file created when you submit your AOS, and the two don't always get married up.

Anyway, the path you choose depends on how much fight you want to give it. You may want to have a CS in your back pocket in case your senator/congressman's inquiry doesn't work out or doesn't work out in the time allotted to respond to the RFE.

January 22, 2010: Bogus RFE corrected through congressional inquiry "EAD waiting on biometrics only" Read about it here.

March 15, 2010: AOS interview - RFE for I-693 vaccination supplement - CS signed part 6!

March 27, 2010: Green Card recieved

Has anyone ever asked for a duplicate of the results from the original medical office? What do you all think?

Hi, I also received RFE requesting for I-693. I read almost 4 vj Nov. filler having RFE for I-693. I already sent my another I-693 and I hope I will not recieve another RFE, I think the new CS that made my I-693 only competed sections 1, 2 and 5.

I think the easiest way to get this out of your way is to do another whole new medical! I mean what else can you do?

I did the same thing as you, but unfortunately, they probably misplaced my previous medical. I'm hoping the office in Vancouver where I had the medical done can give me a replica of what I originally submitted at POE. I just really don't want to pay for another medical if it isn't absolutely necessary. Then again, I don't want to screw myself over with immigration by not just getting another medical. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Thanks

We have almost the same timeline for AOS, and like you I received an RFE for I-693 even I submitted that with AOS package. I alredy responded to my RFE but not full medical exam. I do not know if full medical examination is necessary.

The USCIS costumer representative told me that "maybe" my I-693 is invalid and I do not need a full medical examinations. I hope that's true.

I noticed that those who filed AOS with just DS form and not I-693 received the I-693 RFE and same as the letter we received.

Thanks

UPDATE:

I contacted the office where I had my original medical and here is the response:

Since you are changing your status you will require to supply a another medical

application as the previous one was only valid for your K1, but saying this you

are able to use the medical you had done in our office in May to adjust your

status. You must supply us with your current address, 3 passport photos, new

case number if you have one and our fee of $50.00 payable in cash or cheque.

Once we have received this information we will mail off the sealed envelope.

If you have any further questions please feel free to email me again.
