Approved! Woo woo woo!

My appointment was at 8, was out by 9 o'clock. It actually took longer to sort the courier out than the actual interview. Also had a moment of absolute panic, the woman at the first window insisted she wouldn't need my fiance's dad's affidavit and didn't take it from me. Got to the interview window, asked me all the questions and then said "I've gone through all your documents, I'm going to issue the visa, but..." and then reached for a blue slip. Told me my fiance didn't earn enough for the poverty guidelines. I was like "NO NO NO! His dad is co-sponsoring! I have his papers here I HAVE IT I HAVE IT AAAAGH! The lady! She didn't take it! BUT I HAVE EEET!" The CO looked through it all and went "Oh that's good then, I'm approving it, I don't need any more documents".

Now just waiting for the courier to get on it and send my passport back. Eeeeeee!

  oh that made me laugh for real. Congrats!

now a question is this does this will make any difference if she is standing next to me at interview????according to me it will be good if she is present i guess ........wat do u guy think????

In London, I don't think it makes a bit of difference if your fiance is standing next to you at the interview. If USCIS approved your petition, then they believe your relationship is valid and London won't be looking for further proof. They want to make sure your medical report doesn't have anything that would exclude you and they want to make sure the Affidavit of Support is adequate. Other than that, it's up to you to make sure you have the proper birth certificate, police certificates, translations...everything on the IV-15 checklist that applies to you. If you were born in a country other than the UK, it is likely that you won't be told you are approved at the interview. They usually choose to to further name checks for non-UK born. That's my opinion.

Wow!! 1 hour!! That's, well that's really fast compared to what i've seen, what time did you get there? what was the queue like?

Got there at around 7.30, there were maybe only 10-15 people in front of me. I was inside the embassy by 7.45, they started calling numbers at 8. Come to think of it, maybe it was closer to 9.15 that I left, but I really wasn't in there long at all. It was quite busy, there were a lot of people there. Don't know how I managed to get through so quick, I only heard 3 I-numbers (including mine) called, so maybe that had something to do with it.

Or I could just attribute it to my AWESOME organisation skills and speed. What's that? You want my police certificate and copy and birth certificate and copy? I HAVE THEM ALL RIGHT HERE IN LABELLED DIVIDERS! I WILL GET THEM SO QUICK YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW! Yes, that was it.

Wow, there's a lot of us on the 8th! We should have some kind of dress code or carry red carnations or something, lol.

I was chatting to one bloke, an NIer at the medical, who said he lurks on VJ but not a regular. Waza was there the same day but I dunno what time his appointment was. There was one bloke had to do a pee test, so I reckoned he had some kind of drugs/ alcohol history. He seemed so relaxed about it all, I'd have been cr*pping bricks! lol...

Cannot wait to work my last day on the 18th June. Need to really start getting stuff sorted and giving contractual 30 days notice on stuff pretty soon. It's totally surreal and so very real both at the same time. Talking about house-hunting in a couple of weeks, things like the features we do and don't want, fence heights for boxers, how to keep a colourful garden in Arizona, lol. And then still do the routine humdrum of life here. Wierd...

Anyone else finding this whole experience kinda trippy?

Thanks.

Sundrop - I did a typo and the date of my interview was the 9th, but now I've got an earlier date. You can put me down for the 2nd of June at 9.30am!

Yay! Little happy dance!

Hey it's nice to see you finally have your interview date and that you have it on the 2nd! I've just been reading that the prices are going up on the 4th. Not quite sure of the details but it's great to see that you've managed to get your interview date before then. Also I see there are loads of interviews on the 8th. You may all want to check out if this effects you as €350 is a lot more than the £87 I paid.

This morning I got a letter from the embassy re-scheduling my appointment because they do not have enough interviewers on my original date. My interview date was on June 14th and we had planned around this but now it's June 22nd. My fiance is flying over to attend it with me (lands on June 12th) and we planned to fly back together on the same flight on July 3rd. I booked my flight as refundable just in case but don't want to change it. I have emailled them explaining the situation and asked if there's any available for the week of the 14th. Has anyone else had this happen? Did you have luck with getting the date changed?

I had my interview last Wednesday 19th May and was approved, pending my medical results. CO said they had received my X-ray but not my results, but kept my passport and said they'd send the visa as soon as the medical results arrived. When I came out I called Knightsbridge Doctors who stated they has sent the results to the embassy 4 days prior to my interview and would call them. Doctors called me back saying they had spoken to the embassy who confirmed they had received the results, apologised and confirmed my visa would be processed.

Congratulations on all recent approvals, and huge thanks for all the support and advice I've had along the way from all lovely VJ folks.

For all people still waiting for interview, there really is nothing to worry about. They deal with hundreds of people everyday and zillions of pieces of paper so it's not surprising when a piece of paper goes astray now and then, but it does all get sorted out. The worst of the day is the long wait (4 hours for me, I think the later your appointment is the longer the wait, mine was 9.30) and there are only 2 toilets for females so you queue to pee too!

I'm in exactly the same situation. Was 11th June, 2 days after my original appointment letter I got another saying they had moved it to June 30th for the same reason. Emailed the embassy, they won't change it. They said they advise not to make travel arrangements until the visa is in hand.

Sundrop, could you please amend my date to June 30? Thanks!

Hi Z, can you direct us to where you saw that the fee is going up? Thanks Emma

It's now on the embassy website, wasn't there last week:

The fee for processing a fiancé(e) or K-3 visa is currently $131.00 per visa applicant. From June 4, the fee will be $350:00. The fee is paid on the day of the visa interview to the Embassy cashier. Fees may be paid in cash - sterling or dollar equivalent; by International Money Order or Bankers Draft; by Credit Card - Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club, Discover or American Express; or Debit Card with the Visa logo. The Embassy does not accept any other credit or debit cards, or personal checks.

http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new/visa/iv/kinterview.html

It's a 167% increase. Bit irritating seeing as they'll be getting another $1010 off each of us for the AOS in a few months, not to mention renewal of EADs, Removal of conditions, etc. Oh well, we'll budget an extra £150 or so then!
