Hey guys!! We got our interview date as well, WAAAAAY quicker than we anticipated (thank goodness)!!! And it is also June 8th, but at 9 AM.

My fiance only put "pending visa issuance" for the travel and wedding dates. He sent back his forms on April 12th, and our interview date was assigned today, 16 days later! Crazy quick as far as I can tell!

I've been sharing the news all day with anyone who will listen!! Woooooooo!!!

I guess that they have to give priority of dates to those who sent their packets back earlier. So, even though you put May dates since you only sent it in April they probably gave you the earliest date that they could.

I sent my papers back last week with a cover letter explaining that I will be out of country from June 9th to July first and therefor unavaliable for interview during this time. Phoned DOS yesterday and have been given an interview date for June 10th, just my luck so now need to go through all the pain of trying to get it changed. So I phoned london they said it will be ok, I just have to wait at least 2 weeks before phoning them back and changing it.

So it was exactly a week between them getting my papers and giving me an interview date just wish i could have made it but will be away :(. Will update you when I have been able to change it.

Shame about the date, HOWEVER, they worked fantasically fast on your case if they only had it a week before giving a date! Wonder why they ignored the letter..maybe just an oversight.

Congrats to all the "new" interview dates!

Now I have my visa I feel at a bit of loose end  Hopefully will book a flight soon...

Anyone got any reasonably close good places to stay for the embassy?

I am just looking at the same and think i am going to go with a travel lodge near kingcross station..

http://www.travelodge.co.uk/search_and_book/directions_map.php?hotel_id=258.

For 50 quid for the night its way cheaper than any other i have found.. the ones close to the embassy over about 150 a night..

Timeline

We stayed at the Travelodge Kings Cross two weeks ago. It is nothing special, old and a little decrepit. However, it was clean! And the bed was comfortable enough. It was about a 5 minute walk, and that was mostly waiting to cross the roads. It took us longer than I thought it would to get to the Embassy, though. We left the hotel at 7:15 hoping to get to the embassy at 8 (we had to go to the pharmacy to drop off a phone and camera). We ended up getting in line at 8:20 for our 9 o'clock appointment. It's easily worth £50. I think our two nights were £69 and £85. We were quite limited in our choices though, because we have two teenagers and there do not seem to be a lot of family friendly hotels in our budget, and we could not afford to swing two rooms.
