In addition to the above, my other halfs 2009 tax return was submitted digitally, so all i have is a "copy" (all she was given by her accountant)...how does this change matters?

Quick question regarding tax returns for the evidence of support:

I have the originals - It says it requires a notarised copy, so I presume anything I give them for evidence of support, they keep? Or can I give them the original and expect to see it back once it has been looked over to save me a rediculous notarizing fee?

In addition to the above, my other halfs 2009 tax return was submitted digitally, so all i have is a "copy" (all she was given by her accountant)...how does this change matters?

Tax returns do not have to be notarized. A photocopy of a return is fine. An "original" return would be the paper return signed and mailed to the IRS. Everything else is a "copy" if that makes sense. If her copy is one that could be mailed in, meaning not just a summary or receipt of efiling, then it's okay. It would typically contain a Form 1040 and perhaps some Schedules if applicable to her tax situation (Schedule A, Schedule D). And it would need a photocopy of her W-2 that she got from her employer showing a summary of wages paid to her in 2009. She should sign and date that copy of the 2009 return, then make a photocopy to send you. She will need it again for AOS, so needs to keep a copy.

I use TurboTax and just printed off another copy, but signed and dated it. If she has only the one from her accountant, then she could sign and date (day she filed) and make copies from that for immigration.

Ok so, assuming I have the last 2 years of tax returns, you think the best thing to do is just to photocopy the 2009 one, and hand that in? Along with a photocopy of the W2's.

It is a little impractical to get her to sign and date the tax returns at this point, what with my interview coming up, but I do have 2 of the other requirements from the I-134 list (letter from employer and letter from bank) so this should be an extra.

Arch

Does she have a scanner? Oh, I suppose she sent you her only copy. If you've got 2 years of returns, then take them, but only one is required. I had 3 years because of ordering tax transcripts, but they didn't even look at the older two or put them in the file for the guy who does the interview. I don't know about not signing the return. I signed mine. Make a photocopy of those other two letters and London should give back the originals and you can use them again for AOS if you do that in a timely manner.

Been thinking about the discrepancy between interview dates and P3 submissions, and trying to figure out their madness to the method... erm, or the method to the madness even! lol

I wonder, whether the Easter hols have slowed things down a little? Dooesn't Spring Break in the US coincide with some of our Easter school holidays? I was considering that if COs typically take some time off during Spring Break in the US, and they allocate applications in the same way the service centres do (namely each adjudicator gets a batch that they process) then maybe the 2 recent interview dates given for applications submitted after them were allocated to a CO who didn't go away during SB.

I think once we're told we're approved, I'm going to ask our CO! lol... But a P3 would be nice to start with :D

One thing to take into account is those filing DCF will get quicker appointment dates. It's worth checkng to see who is filing from within the UK before comparing the dates to your own.

For DCF it is generally currently appearing to run 2 months from the date they receive it. 1 month to receive the appointment letter, and an additional month to the interview date.

The only thing I can think of is the expected dates of travel and wedding etc. I'd seen previous posts were it said write dates down so I did. It would be intersting to see if others wrote dates, and compare that way seeing that most of us are K1.

Yeah, that seemed to be something that the 2009ers discussed a lot. What dates are you working to/ hopeful for?

I know that's what people have said, but we ended up putting no dates - just "pending visa issuance." I guess we'll all find out how THAT goes. Hopefully they don't schedule us in like, December  If it's too late, I might just have to call the extortion line to find out about bumping it up.

I wrote I was looking to fly out on the 26th may and wedding 17th July. The interview is for the 11th so if all goes well my flight will now be in June due to work commitments here. Other than that we now have something to aim for and it's the most exciting feeling.
