My finace was told that i shouldnt book the medical until we recieve package four? I have already booked mine and its next week (what can i say im eager to get things done and over with) has anyone encountered a problem with going for the medical too early?

nick

We booked our medicals the day we got Packet 3. As long as you have a case number, you can go ahead and book it. The reports are good for 12 months last I heard. We're really glad we did go early because my husband's blood pressure was slightly elevated and he'd had an ecg that was slightly off prior to a routine surgery the year before. They wanted both rechecked and the results sent to them before they'd send it to the Embassy. All totaled, it took about a month to get that done because of going to the GP, convincing them why he needed another ecg, and why he needed his blood pressure re-checked. Then we had to go to the hospital to have it done, the wait for the results to be sent back to the GP... make an appointment with him... get a zerox of the ecg... it was a whole thing! We mailed them in and were worried that they would want more, because their instructions said get them rechecked and then make a treatment plan, but both were normal, so the GP just scribbled that in the margins. We called a few days after mailing them and they said they got them and already had forwarded everything to the Embassy.

Not that this is likely to happen to you, but if something unexpected does come up, you want time to resolve it.

Hi Kristin

Good to know you finally did receive the packet 3 letter. 8 days later! NVC tells me mine was sent out on 12 March, so I will expect it next week. On the subject of the form DS 230 - what version did you guys use? Did you use the new version as discussed on this thread? http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/246127-warning-update-to-ds-230-form/page__pid__3787403__st__15entry3787403

It says it does not apply to K1 applicants, but it's not crystal clear. I'm confused. Is it just me?

Hey!

Great news that your packet 3 is on the way! Hope it gets to you quickly!

We did use that version. It is the one that the embassy provides here http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/iv/iv_15.html so I think it must be the one they want. Where does it say it's not for K1?

If your police cert says "No Live Trace" You need to obtain your subject access records.

Could you expand on this, Nik+Heather? Our police cert says "no trace," but we figured that just means he has no criminal record.

The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 enables some criminal convictions to become 'spent', or ignored, after a set length of time from the date of conviction. After this period, with certain exceptions, an ex-offender is not normally obliged to mention their conviction when applying for a job or obtaining insurance, or when involved in criminal or civil proceedings. The “No Live Trace” indicates that information may be available relating to a ‘spent’ conviction. “No Trace” indicates a clean police record.

Thanks, Claire. For anyone else who may have the "No Live Trace," it may be worth spending £10 and 40 days getting "Subject Access." See this thread.

Apologies if I have caused panic on the streets of London!

I have just gone back and checked what I was reading on DOS site. It appears I got side tracked over the new DS 160 form, which replaces the DS 156. As the DS 156 is one of our forms, I thought this was another update we had to be aware of, but no, this one definitely states "excluding K1 fiance visa applications". I then got this confused with the info for the DS230, which I had originally gone on the site to check. Talk about having a "senior moment"!

Thanks for the input, I have now achieved the desired state of clarity. Am now ready to rock n roll with the joys of packet 3.

No problem! I know how it is, so easy to get confused and start second guessing yourself in this process. Good luck with the rest of your packet 3 stuff!

I just found out that we have been sent pacakge three.. I havnt receieved it yet but according to DOS it has been sent so hopefully it will arrive before the weekend.

My finace was told that i shouldnt book the medical until we recieve package four? I have already booked mine and its next week (what can i say im eager to get things done and over with) has anyone encountered a problem with going for the medical too early?

Also, if packet three has been sent, is it really worth waiting for it to arrive or can i just go ahead and send them the forms? is there anything in there that is likely to trip me up if i dont wait to recevie it? I am 100% sure i know exactly what i need to send.

I know im soo inpatient, but if i explained my situation im sure you would understand why.

Cheers for the help.

nick

Nick when I realised you have the same NVC left date as me I too rang the DOS...and our Packet 3 is on its way too!!! Expecting it by Friday.

If you look at the medical info on the Embassy website one of the FAQs is what to do if you dont have an interview date yet - and it says not to worry and that the results are good for 12 months, so it's clearly OK and happens a lot. Mine's on the 7th :)

I had read that, and that was the main reason i questioned what the DOS had told my finace.

Well Im not going to listen to them anyway becasue ive already bought the tickets, i am going to stick with my plan and have the medical on tues next week. B-)

Not booked the flights yet, but when i do then it will be through either cheapair or ebookers to find out prices before going to the actual site. I''m not holding to much hope about an interview before June so thats why i haven't booked but as soon as i have an idea of when it will be then I will. I will more then likely be flying out of London gatwick and into either oklahoma city for my friends wedding 1st and then down to tampa, or just fly into tampa as i can always get a non-stop there and it may be cheaper, see the SO for a few days then go up to Oklahoma.

So I am up to my eyeballs in P3 forms and despairing slightly, lol!

Few questions:

DS-157: For my last 2 employers (not including my current job), my last 2 employers are the same (Disney), but at totally separate times and in separate lines of business. Is this OK, or should I list my job before that with a different employer?

DS-157: Same section, if I can't remember my supervisor's last name should I just leave it blank? It was a long time ago!!

DS-230 (and DS-156): Do I literally have to list every time I've ever been in the US since I was a baby, or just times when I had a visa? My memory is blank pre-1994, but I know I visited several times - I first went to the States to see my granddad when I was 8 weeks old lol

Any advice gratefully received - it's really annoying that I don't have a printer at home cos trying to get this done at work is impossible!!

I got the "package 3" letter this morning, and i have sent everything this afternoon. So i am now eagerly awaiting my interview. :-)

Miss jess

If the two work stints at disney were continuous i would put them as one position. I don't think i would worry too much about the supervisors name, maybe just put the name of one of your superiors, and i'm pretty sure you have to put all the times you have entered the USA, whether it was a J1 or just VWP. I put them all, and before the VWP appeared i just put "visitor" as the visa type i'm not sure if thats right or wrong.

Please dont take this as gospel, i am just saying what i would do i am certainly no expert on filling out forms.

Cheers and Good luck.

Nick
