I'd be interested to hear you're review, as Orlando is probably going to be my POE too - generally when I visit they are very nice but sometimes you get one who was clearly off sick when everyone else had the customer service training from Disney...

I'll write up my review in the next couple of days but it was painless. I was given a more difficult time trying to check in for my flight from Manchester. The agent kept insisting that I should have filled out the ESTA thing online because she had issues checking me in (mine was still valid anyway so don't know what she was on about)and I'm like "I'm not traveling on VWP... I have a visa" and she had the nerve to ask me why I had a visa. None of her business!

Yay, happy news. Got the letter from the NVC that our paperwork will be winging it's way to London this week! Now hopefully the processing times will be improving at this end and I can get over there by June :) Have to give 1 month notice at work though so the July wedding may not happen :( Might just take a risk and book a flight for 3 weeks after the interview and resign the week before.

Good luck to all those with upcoming interviews and those still awaiting further paperwork :D

When we started this process I wondered just how many people go through it and allowing for the fact that not every couple signs on to VisaJourney... there must be so many people that do emigrate.

In 2009:

Total visas issued: 5,803,178

Total K1 visas issued: 27,678

Great Britain & Northern Ireland non-immigrant visas issued: 81,188 (yes, London is busy)

It's ok. I thought I had better so that it just looks more up to date. Cass is the more... 'up to date / paperwork checking, rechecking, checking again and looking just in case' of us both. It's a good thing she does, too. I do like having it updated and seeing where we're at.

I also like seeing how far we've come. On the flipside of that, I don't like seeing just how much we have yet to do!

Bloody hell! London really is busy. I couldn't begin to tell you just how many people there were when I was there, but... certainly a few hundred.

That's what I did! It was stressful though because I got my passport back quite late compared to many people lately who post here... didn't get it back until the third week!

I hope this questions hasn't been repeated, but I was wondering if anyone can advise of a good checklist for the documents to bring to the k-1 interview? I saw there was a post at the start of this thread, but when I clicked on the link, it brought me back to the forum homepage.

Any suggestions would greatly help so I can keep things in order for my fiance. :)

^^ do a quick search on "interview checklist" for the UK forum and you'll be able to find stuff that way.

Update, David is awesome! I was starting to pretty darn nervous because of the recent troubles with getting visas that UK folks have had but trying not to bug him too much because of his grandmother, but he e-mailed me today saying that he already called them and got the special code and wrote urgent in the title with it. Whoo! So, hopefully we'll hear back in a few days...

Thanks Sundrop for the info. But ugh, they just charge it to my cell phone bill? Yuck. I thought I had gotten lucky

Hey, just booked my medical!

For anyone about to do so I was told that they have availability from the 24th of March.

I chose a date in mid-April due to work / family / Yuri committments so hopefully London will have processed me into the system by then.

I chose a mid-afternoon appointment and I plan to travel down early in the morning and spend some time at the V&A or Imperial War Museum, go to the appointment, catch up with some family friends for a drink and then head home late in the evening. I hope it works out, even if I have to miss my activities. I just didn't want to have to spend money on a hotel room twice!

Glad that David was on the ball, Justine. Less stress for the both of you. Good luck with getting the process done and dusted!

That's what we did. Got to London around 11, took the tube close to Knightsbridge, then walked to the Embassy just to familiarize ourselves with it. Got US passport photos taken at the pharmacy near there, then walked to the doctors office. We were about an hour early for our appointment, ate our packed lunches in the lobby. Even though they started taking the family back 15 minutes before our appointment, we were still there for about 3 hours. It was hot and boring! We did have time to go to one museum though, on the way back to the train station. I think our train left London at 7ish and we got home 9ish. It was a looong day, but since we'll have to stay in a hotel for the interview date, I felt better about saving it this trip. Plus, then the kids would have missed two days of school instead of one.

Hokie, how many of you were there and how long did it take per person? Just trying to guage what time to book my return train.

Thanks.

Three exams, my husband and two step children. Our appointment was at 1:10, and they took them back one at a time starting at about 12:50. They got vaccines (The flu vaccine wasn't on my checklist - not sure what happened there) and then we went into another waiting room. Then they took each one back and did the physical. Then my husband had to have blood drawn and an x-ray. I think we got out of there about 3:30. It's a pretty busy place. We went to the one nearest Bond Street Station. The people working there were really nice.

As far as per person, they had my husband back for vaccines for maybe 10 minutes. He got two (one my GP wouldn't give him because he was "sure he'd had it as a child" but we couldn't find record of it, as he moved a lot as a child). They also discussed the children's vaccines and everything. It probably only took 3 minutes with each child for the vaccines. Then the exams took maybe 5-10 minutes per person, and my husband's bloodwork and x-ray 10 minutes? You sit and wait mostly. We weren't sure how long it would take, which is why we booked our train out so late. Better to sit around and wait for it than to miss it and have to buy more tickets.
