Hi guys. I just got word from Craigy. The London Embassy responded and our interview date was moved up to Dec 29th. Please know we did this purely b/c I will be there in England and I was hoping to go with him. When we sent in Packet 3 we had included a letter at that time as well. I am leaving on the 4th to come back to the US. Therefore, I was not able to extend my stay as sadly, I am out of vacation days at this time. :( I am very thankful everything worked out. I also will be still checking in with you all as I am very excited for all of us.

You can add us to the Jan 20th day with TeamMoran.

I'm still a bit nervous as to his financial status; he went back to computer consultant after the company he worked for downsized in March. He's been doing work for a few clients and billing intermittently; he's going to include his payment stubs as well as the past three years of taxes (all showing 100k) -- the trouble is two of those years show his ex-wife, though she didnt' work -- is that going to be a problem?

He had asked his parents to co-sponsor - but they actually denied to help him. They said they didn't want legal obligations.

My husband David (Scotinmass)is scheduled for Jan 25th in London. I'm meeting him there but we still have not found a place to stay. We are looking for reasonable and walking distance to embassy so we can avoid tube at rush hour. I'm wondering just how early we need to arrive for 8am appt. Do you plan to arrive half an hour early in case of a que?

A lot of people think Marble Arch Inn is cheap and close enough. I'm not sure where Dave booked, but I know he said it was in King's Cross. Did you read LionCub's review yet? It's great. :) He did a good job at describing how long it took to get around from the different reference points.

My interview is for 9am, but I'm planning on arriving for at least 8:30. We'll probably actually try to aim to get pretty close to the embassy by about 8-8:15 though, in all honesty. Parking in London can be a nightmare, and I am utterly terrified of being late. I heard they don't let you in more than 30 minutes before your appointment, but I'm planning on getting in as early as they'll let me - I'd rather be sat inside waiting than risk getting there late.

I don't know much about hotels, but I'm sure I've heard other VJers mention that there's a hotel close by. I don't know how expensive it is though. Unfortunately, it's just not possible for us to get down there the night before - we'll be leaving at 3am to drive down there instead!

Ah well, I doubt I'll be sleeping much that night anyways.

I would allow at least 30 mins if there is a queue outside the embassy. There was quite a lengthy queue for my interview at 10am and it took about 45 mins before I was sat in the waiting room.

As far as hotels are concerned - I can't really fault Marble Arch Inn. £45 for a clean hotel 10 mins walk from embassy - can't really beat that. Shared shower and toilet though - that's the only downside.

Oh I would hate having a shared bathroom. We are looking at a studio apt since we willbe there a few days.

Hmm I was thinking 8am might be first interview until I saw someone post a 6:30am one! How early do they begin the line outside I wonder? I am praing for dry weather since you arent allowed an umbrella!

At this time I don't know how I am going to get down to London for the 8th. Perhaps I will have to take the bus again, ugh.

Bus gets in early enough, at half 7, with enough time to get to the Embassy, but, I'm really worried any delay at all will cause me to miss my time.

I hit another issue too, been looking at flight prices from Edinburgh to Tampa and they are pretty high. Smugly thought to myself I have enough for a reward flight with Continental, 25K miles, but turns out they want you to book a return, damn! I am going to have to call them to see, since I don't need a return.

It might be cheaper to just book the return and not use it.

I am thinking that yes. Can't use miles for that though as I don't have 50k so it would be a straight purchase. I'll have to give CO a call as the wording says "only round trip rewards can be purchased online" which suggest I might be able to get a one way going through the elite phone line.
