I have started to feel sick with nerves about friday every time I check this thread now...

Congrats to everyone who has been approved recently! Im so happy for you. What an amazing feeling that must be. I hope to be joining you with that feeling on friday. My fiance is travelling over tomorrow for a month which we only decided last week so I wont be on my own for the interview now which helps. Ooooh my stomach, just talking about it. NERVES!

I remember the nerves were so bad for me that the mere thought of having to go through the interview made me feel sick and breathless with fear. It's great that you can have your fiance there with you. I think it helped my experience to have my step-father there with me - though were not too close, he was good company and helped to keep me distracted so I didn't worry.

Good luck on your interview! I know it's a scary time waiting for the big day---try to keep distracted. The big day'll soon be come and gone before you know it!

Please don't worry NikkiUK. I know its a very easy thing to say but I was sick with nerves from the moment I woke up yesterday morning and in the queue to go in, I thought 'I'm going to have to leave the queue in a minute'. I felt so sick. I really had to control my nerves and think 'this is what I really want I just have to get on with it' Once I got in the building, I felt much more relaxed. I guess its the anticipation part that got me the most.

But just make sure you're 100% prepared. I was so suprised when talking to people, that they didn't even know the name of the visa they were applying for, or what forms they had filled in. One girl behind me in the queue got turned away because she still had her I-pod in her bag and couldn't understand why she couldn't take it in! If you're organised, you'll be fine. I don't know how people took books to read though, I couldn't concentrate on the magazine I bought with me, I was too busy listening out for my number! Which eventually, was never called out, it just appeared on the screen.

But the interview, as a few other people have said was fine, enjoyable even. The consular officer that interviewed me, seemed genuinely interested in my answers. He even made small talk. He was really friendly and pleasant. Honestly, I felt less interrogated than when I usually go through Newark Passport Control!!!

Looking forward to hearing how you get on. Good luck *hugs*

It's a very strange feeling to suddenly no longer have the interview to worry about, isn't it? I still feel nervous for other people, when they have their interviews. As you've noted though, if you're organized, then that's half the stress gone. I was really surprised when I was at my interview, seeing the couple in front of me (who were also applying for a k1) and they didn't seem to have anything at all prepared. I was organized, therefore, my interview went very smoothly.

It's a strange thing about the nerves-I too found that once it actually came to arriving at the embassy, I felt oddly calm about the whole thing. My hands shook a lot when I had to have my fingerprints taken, but I bet they are used to that!

do you mind me asking whereabouts in NH? i live on the NH seacoast (north hampton) and my british fiancé will be here next month. i also have a friend who just married her englishman last year and they also live in the seacoast area. :)

My friend lives in Dover, I'll be moving to Missouri. Not sure whether to be happy about that  Joking of course... :innocent:

Congratulations!! Im very happy for you!

Thanks for this review, its really very helpful. I have my interview in 2 weeks and now starting to panic about getting everything together and what to take and how to get there. Eeek! Im excited though, be glad to get this part over and done with. Your review has put my mind at ease though, sounded like it was fairly straight forward and painless. What time did you arrive for your interview out of interest?

I planned on getting there for 8am, but I think that I actually joined the queue at 8:10. I'm glad the review was helpful :) Honestly, it's really easy if you have your documents organised. I saw some other immigrant visa people who seemed to take a huge amount of time fumbling with documents. I am so grateful for this place, it's the only reason I was organised!

I was thinking when I was going to be getting all the paperwork organized I may use a small accordian style folder so that I can mark them as to what they are and all he'll have to do is go to the tab that whatever they ask for is listed under. I'll be there too I just don't want to have to say anything and be able to let him get on with it as easy as possible...what do you think?

That's a perfect idea! I put a binder together with all my paperwork and sent it to my fiance with spaces to put his documents (like birth certificate etc...) and he took time to know which tabs were what and he did great at his interview! Best of luck to you!

Good Good. I had to laugh the other night while he was doing all that packet 3 paperwork. I think he thought it was going to be FAR more simple than what it was. I sat there on the webcam laughing as he would throw his hands up. Just made me laugh. Poor John...paperwork is not his forte'. He sent it overnight and I know it got there today...thank you royal mail! Now back to the waiting game. I'm thinking from the looks of previous timelines we are looking at April. I was sure hoping for March but April will have to do!

Poor John...paperwork is not his forte'.

My poor fiance is just the same. It really bugs him that this is so confusing for him. At least I'm pretty organized-would be a nightmare if we both struggled with this sort of thing.

For my interview, because of my visual impairment, I had to use a system that didn't require me having to read anything. In the end, I divided everything into four seperate files: my stuff, his stuff, his parents stuff, evidence of support. Then I paperclipped things together as necessary. I think it worked very well, since I thought carefully about what order I placed the documents and was actually lucky that they asked for everything in the exact order I had arranged things.

LOL - I put together all the bits and pieces for the I-129F and just mailed it all off to Ry. Each bit of bumpf is in the order that it appears on the cover letter, each one has a cover sheet paperclipped saying stuff like 'Proof of Citizenship: Fred Bloggs' (with his real name of course! lol) and then each cover sheet has a post-it note stuck on that says "sign pg. 3 and scan" or "put your birth certificate here or "do nothing" or "do nothing again!" and finally "yay, still more nothing! xx)

I figured if I can at least make him laugh at my anally-retentive organisational abilities, it might make the whole process seem less arduous than it is. Don't mind bearing the brunt of the work and thank god his mom is equally capable! When I told him everything I'd included he said, "wow... why couldn't you just have been a local gal!" lol..

Now if someone can just tell me whether I need to provide any evidence of my name change from maiden to married (i.e. my birth certificate and 1st marriage certificate - I'm not changing back for the sake of 7 months before I get re-married) I'll be a happy camper.

LOL!! Too funny! Hmm never thought about you having to prove your name. I'm sure it wouldn't be a bad idea to provide copies of those documents to prove why your name is different than your maiden, but obviously you don't want to take any documents you won't need. Good luck on that and keep us posted, I'm kind of curious about that now!

This is specifically for filing the I-129F, though. I'm a little baffled as to why we don't need to prove who I am in any way, except by virtue of the information I provide and sign as true. I mean, they do security/ name checks at NVC level, he could have said I'm Mother Theresa, they've nothing that shows otherwise.... and yup, I know she's dead :D

You might not need anything then until your interview. Yeah, I was surprised they didn't require a birth certificate for the foreign fiance while filing the I-129F. I guess they assume you will prove that you are real at the interview. LOL
