Jiiiiiiill we are all on tenterhooks!

Mine's next thursday, and now is as good a time as any to post my insanely stupid worry: I make right at the limit for the 125% of the poverty line thing (Mine is for 3 people and I make $27400. The problem is that I'm hourly and if I miss any time then I'm not paid--so my actual salary for the year is closer to $26000). Anyway, the point is that I'm right at the line, and I'm super worried that we'll be denied because I'm so close (though still over!) If they do, will they just give us an RFE for it or will we have to start over?

If they aren't happy with the amount you make, they will give you a conditional acceptance, meaning they will say that you can get a co-sponsor. They won't deny you outright. From what I can tell though, you are still over the limit. Not by much, but it's still over.

If you do need a co-sponsor, they will likely let you know that and give you some time to send them that information before they make their final determination.

If you make the amount that is all that is required. It is black and white without any ifs and buts. Meet the requirement you are in, be below you have to find a co-sponsor.

I'm there with you Asila as far as worrying about the money issue. I know I make well over the poverty line for a family of 4, but I didn't last year, so my tax return only shows $19k, plus I have the non-taxed child support that would put me about $26k. I've got 2 letters from my employer (one from the day I started, and another from 3 months later showing I had passed through my first 90 days and was still in good standing - even got a promotion) as well as ongoing pay stubs from the day I started through the current one, and a 5-year history of child support payments printed from the OKDHS website. I'm hoping this is enough. I've got my mother's info just in case we need it as a co-signer, but I don't want to have to use her if we don't need to. (I'm weird about being independent.)

From everything I can tell, if you've got several pay stubs showing a full 40 hours, they'll go off of your projected annual income. You're not expecting to be out sick, etc. Anyone can have an emergency and be out of work without notice. It's just the nature of life and work.

Good luck to you. I hope your fiance flies through the interview and comes out smiling!
