I have to agree with Amy, MPs can't (and won't) do anything to help things along. Your time is better spent getting your papers organised for the interview. Do you have your long form birth certificate?

Oh hello Elmcitymaven, you're even more Johnny on the spot than 'ol Johnny boy used to be!

For the second time, yes of course I have my long form birth certificate. Unlike the dolts at your State Department, I actually know what I'm doing. On the other hand, like your Department of State civil servants, I'm having a lovely time drinking and 'surfing' at my desk.

Uh, whatever Julian. In the interests of this thread staying UNLOCKED and ON TOPIC why don't we start a new topic on the usefulness of MPs in this process?

If there are any locks, they certainly won't be from me. Had a lovely massage this afternoon, and I'm in a fantastic mood tonight. No desire to argue with you or anyone else. Come have a drink with me dear, I'll show you around the old town.

I started a new thread for you. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/273592-getting-mps-involved-in-the-process/

Thanks for the invitation, Julian, though I know London fairly well. I will take you up on the offer of a drink.

My husband's interview is tomorrow. I'm so anxious. It'll be in the wee hours of the morning here when I find out anything. He's only got some basic info from me that he forgets under stress, like numbers and names and things like that. And also a few wedding photos and older photos. But other than that, that's all he is taking besides the necessary stuff from the interview letter. Everything's run smoothly so far, no RFEs or anything, so hoping tomorrow is just as smooth.

Apparently someone from here had an interview yesterday - I wonder what happened with that?

You know, I thought that I would hear something in the wee hours as well. In fact, I didn't sleep really well that night, and left the computer on and the volume up incase he called. I woke up several times, to lunge over to the computer and make sure no missed calls.........Since no cell phones are allowed in the building, I had to wait a REALLY long time (I was at work already!) for him to get all the way back home before he could tell me how it went.

Hehe. Well he originally lives in Manchester, but has an uncle in London, so he's staying over there tonight. Going to leave his cell at Gould Pharmacy and then once he gets it back he'll text me. Nervous and overeating because of it! Not good things.

I had my interview recently - there really isn't anything to worry about, they are nice people! My interview focused more on the city I will be moving to, and I didn't get the impression that they were trying to catch me out.

What sucks is how long you have to wait - I would advise purchasing a newspaper or something to read, and being in the queue about 45 mins before your appointment time. And don't get too annoyed that people with "N" tickets get seen much quicker than the people with like us with "I" tickets.

To quote the great Douglas Adams: "Don't Panic!" And £4 in a payphone gets you about one minute to the USA.

Good luck!

Husband got approved this morning! Yay! So he will be here within a couple of weeks if that visa comes soon enough! Good luck to everyone else! He said it was very easy. Thanks everyone!

It really is stinking ridiculous that we can't even get a basic answer from the embassy. There's no question that they've set a date, it would be the height of incompetency not to have at least that bit sorted by now. The civil servants manning the phones obviously just cannot be bothered to put down their cheet-o's and magazines long enough to type a few bits of information into the comptuer to give us an answer. Honestly, this has gone on long enough. I may just ring my MP in the morning to get things moving.

Their cheet-o's what? Do the cheet-os own something?
