I know we're technically still in "normal processing times" for getting an interview date, but I was really hoping we would have our interview date by now! My plan for having a September wedding was thrown away a long time ago, and we have a date set in December, but my fiance has to spend at least two months tying up a lot of business in London before he can come here, so I'm REALLY worried that he won't have the interview in time! I know I shouldn't but I'm calling DOS three times a day now and I just want to know so we can make plans. :( He said if we don't hear soon, we should try to get someone in the State Department involved because he's not going to miss our wedding.

I just want to know I'm not being crazy!!! :crying:

The people who answer the phones at the London embassy are usually less than average intelligence...

When our visa printing got past the 3 week mark or so, we called up to ask for the passcode in order to e-mail them about it. I was told that there was no such thing as one until I explained my situation and she gave me one.

The people who answer the "helplines" phones are not at the Embassy they are in a contracted out call center in Scotland.

What to expect at the POE - WIKI entry

The state department is not going to do anything if you in normal processing times. As I have said before to numerous other people, be thankful that your processing is as fast as it is this year. Last year most people wouldn't have even had their NOA2 in the time you've almost gotten your interview date.

Having said that, did you mention your wedding plans in the paperwork sent back to the embassy. I have heard they might speed it up if as a courtesy if they know you have a certain date.

He put down a travel date of around December 1st, so I don't know if that will help. It's too late to call again today anyway, so I guess I'll just start again tomorrow. :(

Honestly I think that you will probably get your date very very soon. Don't worry so much, it will just stress you out as this important time when you really have very little influence in what happens. I know that is easy to say but I have been through the same waiting game and know from experience that fretting is not going to help.

Melissa,

From what I've found, I think the DOS updates their computers at 3pm EST, so if you call in the afternoon or first thing in the morning you might get fresh news. Might not necessarily be so, but it seems that way.

Good luck!

I always used to call a little after noon EST because I knew the embassy would be done with business for that day and I would have the most recent news.

Thank you Dodi! And thank you Amy too. I'll try again tomorrow first thing and just keep calling until they tell me to go away.

Only 3 times a day, Melissa? You're not trying hard enough.

To be honest, it's more like 8 times a day.

I'm just f*cking with you. Sorry. It's like a nervous tic. You're just so cute and soft, I want to squeeze you to bits like a plush doggy. And for you to have eternal happiness, also. That too. But mostly to squish you.
