Just got wonderful news: called DOS again, and the woman said, "I have good news for you: his visa was printed today and should be delivered in the next few days!" WHOOOOPEEE! We are so relieved and happy I could weep.

So happy for you! Now take that huge breath you were holding and dance around the room hehe!

Have a wonderful wedding day both of you Some day we'll all look back on our applications and the huge waits and laugh... just not anytime soon lol.

I just got my interview date, it's on December 15.

Such a long wait, we posted Packet 3 on 25th August. We'll be cutting it very close, the lease on our flat runs out on Dec. 20 and we really want to get to the US by Christmas. Seems like a logistical nightmare.

What is the fastest the visa can be delivered after the interview? Don't even want to think about the possibility of something going wrong and being delayed even longer.

I believe as long as everything passes (Medical + Interview) then you can be handed your K1 and walk out the door. There have been people here on the forums who had to fulfill one or more requirements before the K1 would be provided. Examples of such things might have included documentation involving a divorce, additional medical stuff, whatever. Because you can't be 100% sure until you have the K1 in your hand, you can't make hard and fast dates for things like travel, weddings etc. It all depends on having the K1 approved and in your hand (and your big brown envelope). In my case, the doctor required my fiancee take care of a list of things for the medical side and until that was all turned in and satisfied, we had to wait on the K1. It delayed us by exactly 3 months getting the K1. Hopefully you'll be able to take yours with you directly after the interview.

Well, I'm on IR1 and I've passed the medical and got the vaccinations and we have all the papers, I can't imagine what else they could ask for. Don't really have any plans to make either, since we've been married for years, just wanted to go "home" for Christmas. With some luck, it might happen.

I am pretty sure that you will not get your visa there but it will be delivered back via courier.

In all cases I have known, and including my own when i did a k1 a few years back, you leave your passport at the us embassy and pay for the courier service to have your visa printed, inserted into your passport and finally returned to you

We had our interview last Wednesday, and the visa was delivered today. I think most people recently have been averaging about a week from interview to delivery.

I'm going to be pathetic and admit I keep checking the tracking site to see if the visa is on its way already even though it's barely been 48 hours lol.

Will be devastated if we suddenly get pushed into AP.

My fiancee was also checking the courier website after she knew the knightsbridge doctor had received everything she had asked for following the medical and interview. She did get an email a couple weeks after the doctor acknoledged by phone receipt of everything, the email stated our K1 case was in final review so that was when the courier website really got checked often. The indication of package enroute came on Nov 2 I think, and package a day later.

Advanced Parole. Once you enter the US on a K-1 visa you cannot leave again without forefitting your status. You must get married, and file AOS before you are able to leave the country with Advanced Parole. You just fill out an application and send it off with your AOS application and then 60 days later or so you have permission to leave the US while your AOS application is still pending.

That's correct but in the context of this thread AP is Administrative Processing. It means they are having to do additional checks, often manual background checks, but can also be getting additional documents from the applicant before the visa is issued.
