So I suppose in retrospect they are advising me not to bring him, not saying that I can't. It is so strongly worded though, it made me assume there is a rule against it. We will be in London with him, maybe we should just all show up and see what happens?

Normally I would not mind him going alone, its just that I am self employed. If they have questions about my taxes ect for the I-184, he'll be a bit stuck answering them.

Ergh. Will be happy when this bit is over.

The links that were posted were from last year, but they were also the official Embassy site. I would print out the pages and take them with you as well, just so you can show them if they say anything. A change to their policy should have updated immediately if it happened, so that this problem wouldn't arise. I'm sure there are lots of people who are in this situation.

Our children (my step children) are 12 and 14, so 14 year old has to be there, but the 12 year old doesn't (I think, I couldn't find the link to quote it). We'd be in a bind if we couldn't take one or both of them because we have no local family, and it's a two day trip away from home. Unlike you, I would never let my husband go in alone because he hasn't touched a single piece of paperwork this whole visa process except to sign where I've told him to. I've got everything ordered and labeled, but if a question arose and he couldn't answer it and it delayed us, I don't know if I'd be able to forgive myself. So all four of us are going.

It is interesting, though, because the children's interview letters were all the same. The 12 year olds did not say that he did not need to come. I've been trying to mentally prepare them for a boring day with no ipod or gameboy, just a book and a lot of sitting.

On a side note, I just thought of this, can you take food in? One of those links posted before said that there was a snack bar (which I assume is overpriced), but it did not say whether you could bring your own. I know you can't take a backpack/large bag in, but other than electronics I can't find any other restrictions.

-Jenny

Ugh. I've been looking into the AOS process lately. I can't believe you can't work until you get the EAD, which takes 60-90 days after filing! That's a lot of time to just support someone in a new country... kind of feels like "Welcome to America, now here's some unemployment to help you get adjusted."

I guess there's nothing to be done about it. I just find it very frustrating. Throughout this process I've been supporting my fiance financially because finding a job for only a few months is difficult. Seems I'll have to do it a few months more.

Yeah, I know, grumble grumble. It'll be so good to have my love back, I'm sure we can deal with a few more bumps courtesy o' the US Government.

Oh gosh, I know what you mean - thats why Ive been worried. I have done evvvveryyyything. I just didn't think I had a choice - as in, I thought they would not let us in if my son was with us. I think we will go over the paperwork as thoroughly as possible just in case, but try to go with him. Printing out the page from the embassy website is a good idea.

Thanks everyone.

Hehe - same here and my fiance's going alone. I can't imagine one partner handling all the paperwork is unusual for them... not too many people have failed for not knowing what a NOA2 is, I imagine.

My fiance and I are doing a practice interview this weekend over the phone, where I shall play the stern, disapproving immigration officer. I've been reading the kinds of questions people trip up on, and want to make sure the boy's equipped. Maybe doing something similar would calm the nerves of those of you waiting for the interview... it's going to calm ours a bit.

And after we practice the interview, we'll switch gears and I'll play the sexy, naughty immigration officer who wants to punish you for not certifying that document.

No, not really.

Ah there's nothing like the announcement of a rail strike over your medical date when you have to get from Leeds to London...sigh.

And I was supposed to be going away with British airways this weekend too!! Lol

lol @ the paranoid-ness since your partner is the UKC and hasn't done any paperwork at all and now they have to go to the interview! I sent David a bunch of questions to be prepared for and prepped him a little bit. And I only updated my facebook status with anxiety every couple of hours while waiting for him to call me, lol. Even the P3 documents I was too much of a control freak and did them and scanned them over to him via e-mail.

Well, updates for us, David had e-mailed the embassy and they told him to print out a form with his credit card info and send it to them.

Word to the wise: Remember to tell your UK honey or remind yourself if you are the UK honey, you *must* pay the fees and ask them if they forget to ask you! It seems like they are forgetting a bunch of stuff these days...David also had to ask them if they wanted my affidavit of support too, to which the officer was like, "Oh...yeah. Great, thanks."
