WOOHOO!!! According to DHL the Embassy have received my case (although DOS didn't seem to think so) :) They got it Monday - so hopefully Packet 3 soon....

Unfortunately, it can take a couple of weeks for the London embassy to "log" your documents into the system...took them 13 days to do it for us...

Naturalization

9/9: Mailed N-400 package off

9/11: Arrived at Dallas, TX

9/17: NOA

9/19: Check cashed

10/7: Text from USCIS on status update: Biometrics in the mail

10/9: Received Biometrics letter

10/29: Biometrics

10/31: In-line

2/16: Text from USCIS that Baltimore has scheduled an interview...finally!!

2/24: Interview letter received

3/24: Naturalization interview

My NOA2 is 16th Feb. My packet was sent to the embassy on 18th Feb.

I have heard it can take three to four weeks at the moment for London to log our cases.

Im not sure about booking the medical before any confirmation that packet 3 has been sent as if it takes so long the medical results could get to the embassy before they even have my details logged in the system. Im sure this would cause problems??

You can book your medical. You only need to have your NVC case no. to do it, you don't have to wait for packet 3. Miss Jess and others recently have.

I have indeed, but I'm kinda with visacat on this one. I've given myself a good 4 weeks to allow the Embassy to log the case and hopefully send out P3. If I haven't got P3 by the beginning of April I'm going to consider rescheduling the medical - I just wouldn't want the results to be sent to the embassy and then just vanish into the ether....and then have to have another one *shudder*

I've just got back from my doctors, who were completely and utterly useless. They don't have my medical records except for stuff I've had done with them - so no childhood vaccinations record  (given that my company actually runs the NHS's IT infrastructure, maybe I should beat them up instead...). Plus, despite me telling them over the phone what I needed, the nurse I saw promptly announced that she couldn't issue me with a medical exemption letter, that I'd have to come back and see the GP and pay £20!!!

Gah. Useless. I'm getting kinda worried that the doctors for the medical won't believe I have a medical reason for not having the vaccinations and I'll have to choose between running the risk and getting no visa

Miss Jess, you can get a visa without getting any shots. They aren't required because a K1 is a non-immigrant visa. BUT you will need the immunization or a medical waiver to get a green card. So it's best to sort out what you can with your personal doctor while you're in the UK.

Concerning the reaction you've had to immunizations. I would think a doctor would have to sign off and the nurse couldn't help you. I was just wondering if he has no knowlege of your childhood history, can he be of help? Is there NHS service where you were as a child that would have a record of your immunization problems and any shots you took? If you're with a practice different from when you were a child, then they would have no way of knowing your history unless you had requested everything be released to them when you changed doctors. If possible, you might want to track down the place where you saw the doctor when you had the immunization problems.

I have a similar problem in that we left the city that I had my baby vaccinations (and the hospital closed down) so there's no records available. That's why I stared the thread asking about what they actually ask when it comes to vaccinations. I'll let you know if I get a better response than 'I just had them all done again.'

I read in the Canadian forum that there's some kind of blood test that can be done to show what you're immune to but I don't know if that needs doing for the K1 visa or if you tell the doctor your reasons for not having or that you have had the vaccination they'll take your word for it.

OK, so let's say worse case scenario I have to have them done, and my doctor suddenly decides after 25 years it is safe for me to do so.

I guess my question is, would I have to have ALL the childhood vaccines done or only the ones that are relevant for my current age? The only ones that are relevant for my age are the Tetanus Diptheria and Polio (which I *have* had, and recently) and the MMR - and the Measles jab is what I had an allergic reaction to, so I should be able to get medical exemption for that one at least - or would they make me have alllllllll the listed vaccinations? Does that make sense?

Timeline

We just got our appointment date (well, my husband and children's appointment date): May 17th.

I am so frustrated, though! There is another couple that mailed theirs 3 days earlier according to the timeline, but got a date of April 22. I figured it would be about a month between notification of the interview and the date, but over two months?! I'm stressing out. We're planning on moving in June, but I can't book anything until at least May 17th.... everything is going to cost more... flights to the US, trains to the airport.

I can't find contact information online (though I may have better luck once I've calmed down). It would be so much easier to handle if only I didn't know that someone so close to our submission date got booked a full month earlier than us. I'm just gutted :(

The only ones that are relevant for my age are the Tetanus Diptheria and Polio

The "p" in Tdap stands for pertussis which is whooping cough. It's confusing because the list is a US list of shots. In the UK, polio is grouped in with the baby shot and the "p" does normally refer to polio when you're talking to doctors over there. What's really weird is that I don't think the actual drug for Tdap is even available in the UK. It's new and developed for teens and adults because of reactions to stronger DTP doses that babies take. NHS gave my husband something they ticked off as Tdap (probably the polio version) and it allowed him to get a green card, so whatever it was, it worked. Such a hassel sorting out all this, isn't it?

Here's some FYI about DTP, Tdap, Td, etc. http://www.immunize.org/vis/td_tdap.pdf not that it really matters.

You only need to get the age appropriate vaccinations.

Well you can always call the DOS and and have them confirm the embassy have sent out packet 3 about a week before the medical then you know for sure.

Is it really neccessary to wait for "packet 3" to arrive before sending off the forms..?

It says on the London Embassy website:

Note: Only applicants who been notified by the Immigrant Visa Unit that a petition has been received in their name should complete the visa application forms. Forms received without the applicant's case number will be discarded.

So if you have the Case number, which is assigned at the NVC stage then is it possible to send the forms?

I know it says only applicants who have been notified should send the required forms, but i have also read that sometime people do not recevie this letter, so in that case are you endlessly waiting.

Im getting so ichy to keep things moving.

This has to be one of the hardest things i have ever had to do. Everything seems so close yet so far away all at the same time..

Come on London, get those letters moving out and lets get our interview sorted. Even if the date is 6 weeks away at least we will know.

COME ON!!!!!!!!

I'm with you on that one. We just got our interview letter. It's in 8 weeks. We were hoping to move in 13 weeks. I hope you hear something soon. I just didn't think back in October when we started this process that we'd still be this far from the end. It's such a strain, the not knowing.

8 weeks? That's shocking. The UK is one of the slowest. The irony of that is enough to finish me off, if the pernicious effects of the wait just to be logged, the wait for packet 3, the wait for interview then the wait for the actual visa itself doesn't finish me off first. Funny how other embassies, with higher numbers of applicants, in high visa fraud countries, where most applicants are then put into AP, all seem to get it all done in a quarter of the time, including AP time. Would love to know why that is deemed acceptable.
