Hello! I called the SSA today and miraculously was answered by the person who handled my case, been calling before but would never be received by the person I want to speak to since there are also alot of employees. He said. It was good I called.told me that everification result came in and says everythings good that I should receive a receipt of application approval by next week and ssn will follow after that. Thank God! I was worried after the call coz there is another girl who has the same bday and name as I have but she is a USC born in TN. Anyways, crossing my fingers till I receive the card. It is the best Christmas if I receive it soon.

Thank you iquit, rebeccajo, zen, Tracy, mstee for your replies...got some emotional and informational support from you guys! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Hallo eveyone, ssn is such an ordeal! Tried applying since July 21 until my I94 expired. so I had to wait for the EAD and went back to apply, they told me again I have to wait. then got my GC Then decided to call SSA (they advised me to call before going back and am getting tired of going back and forth at least 8 times already) and they told me I cannot apply yet coz USCIS needs to do some more verification... when I already have my permanent resident card?!! thathe heck is going on?

Please I need your advice on this matter. This is making me and my husband bonkers! What should we do next?

Thank you

WHAT? OH MY GOSH !!! Those SS officer in your area are INCOMPETENT because your GC and EAC are sufficient evidence to get a SSN...Because on my experiece before, I applied my SSN based on my I-94 and PASSPORT, and it was just fine... Try to call SS customer hotline or talk to higher SS superior in that office about your case because that clerk that dealt with was obviously uninformed but this should not be an excuse, she should have asked her boss about it.....

Calling the SSA 800# (800-772-1213) is a waste of time to find out what is going on with your SSN application. You need to go back into the office where you applied. Be sure to take you documents with you when you do go in.
