Hi! my husband and I together with my son went to Boracay last summer (May 01-May05); since it's summer, it's peak season so the rate is much higher. Anyway, it was my husband who research from our flight down to our accommodation. We flew from MNL to Caticlan (which is closer to the port where people going to Boracay will take the ferry boat) via PAL Express; then we stayed at Le Soleil de Boracay which is located at Station 2 which is the best among the three (3) stations in Boracay because it is the center of day and night life in the island. Le Soleil de Boracay is located beach-front; the rooms are nice and tidy and janitorial staff/s of the hotel clean the room everyday; food are also delicious, can't complain about that. So that's it! I hope I was able to be help to you through the info I shared.

So for the people that have been to boracay, what hotel do you recommend? I was looking at Bamboo resort.....9 days 8 nights for like 19,000 pesos. this was just a quote i got a couple weeks ago. Just trying to get an idea of where it is good to stay. It will be our real honeymoon, so I dont mind paying a little more. Of course we will be going during high season...I am trying to get there so we can go there over Valentine's day. Any suggestions would be greatly appricated. Thanks

I've been to Boracay twice.

I've stayed in both the Patio Pacific and the Boracay Regency. I liked the Boracay Regency far more. The Patio Pacific is a 5 minute walk from the beach while with the Boracay Regency you can step right out onto the beach. Both had complimentary breakfasts. The rooms at the Regency are far nicer in my opinion but there was more noise at night (depends on where your room is). As for cost, the Regency costs more.

When I went to the Regency, I had lost the confirmation number for the reservation and they could not find it by my name. However, they had a great deal for walkins. It was 50% of the normal cost but I had to pay in cash up front for the 4 nights. So that actually worked out in my favor. You can have them arrange your transfer from the airport to the hotel. They will drive you to the boat and then again to the hotel.

Some airline had a couple of minor accidents at the Caticlan airport this year so PAL Express and Cebu Pacific don't fly in there anymore as they shorten the runway length. Maybe thats changed in the past 3 months but I just had to go through this in September. Book with Seair if you want to fly into Caticlan. I recommend that. Otherwise its a 90+ minute ride on a bus from Kalibo.

Also, stock up on 20/50 peso notes for tips for the porters. You will have a porter per bag and your bags will be carried at the airport to your vehicle to the boat, carried onto the boat and carried off of the boat and then for the bellhop at the hotel so you need lots of small peso notes for tips. I had to tip 100 peso notes sometimes because I didn't have enough small notes.

Cecilia and I were in Boracay last August. I booked the Monaco Suites de Boracay. This is a wonderful property that is a time-share type resort with a beautiful pool, jacuzzi, and water sport equipment on the property, and a private shuttle service and excellent food service. We stayed in one of the front suites with a nice outdoor deck and beautiful view of the bay. The suites come with a separate kitchen, dining room, bedroom, etc and is very quiet. This property is located about a 10 minute shuttle ride away from the main beach on the other side of the island, and if you are looking for nice accomodations, a quiet and scerene setting, this is my recommendation. I would definately stay back at the Monaco Suites again. The staff is friendly, responsive, and the peace and quiet of this property was well worth the price.

I would be happy to share some pics that Cecilia and I took when we were there last August.

Here is the url from the brocure that I got from them when we were there: www.monacosuites.com

Best Regards,

Gary
