I apologize for my ignorance. Which number is the extortion line? Craigy and I just found out our interview is on the 7th which is great but we sent a special request to try to get it earlier while I am there. Now that we have the date just wanted to have him call the number and get the e-mail address to do another special request. Maybe won't work but would like to try. Thanks all. :)

Back again. I am assuming you need to call the operator assisted number. Has anyone called these numbers from the US to get the email address? I tried both the operator assisted and the switchboard from a US cell and can't get through. If you have contacted the UK from the US in order to get a change in the interview date, would you pls let me know the exact phone number you used to call the UK from the US? I am sorry to be such an annoying person about this. Meanwhile Paul is trying from the UK but that is another story.

AS I recall, you cannot call the extortion line from a US number. You have to call from the UK.

From the Embassy Info page here on VJ:

Consulate Phone Number: Switchboard: [44] (0)20 7499-9000

Operator Assisted Visa Information Call 09042-450-100 (120p/min)

Monday through Friday, between 8.00 am and 8.00 pm, and Saturday, between 10.00 am and 4.00 pm

This number is a premium number and only available in the U.K., within U.K. may be unavailable from some business telephones and mobile networks.

This is from the Embassy website...

Callers from the United States

Callers from within the United States should dial 1-866-382-3589. Callers are charged a fixed rate of $16:00 which is payable by credit card - Visa, MasterCard, American Express only. Please ensure that you have your credit card details available when making the call. You will not be charged for the call until payment has been taken. Please note that you will be required to provide the agent with a U.K. address when scheduling the appointment.

Argghhh! Called the $16 line from US. Was given a code and told to send an email. Sent the email Wed, didn't hear anything. On Friday called back and they said resend you didn't provide enough information so forwarded email and added extra information. Spoke with 2 other VJers and was under the impression I would hear something today. Called back the $16 line, they said 1-2 weeks and if I want to continue to speak with them I have to pay another $16.

Has anyone else emailed the embassy recently with the code and if so have you heard back?

The embassy is notorious for not responding quickly to email. I suspect you'll have a bit of difficulty getting your interview rescheduled for the week between Christmas and New Year. The embassy pretty much grinds to a halt then.

Yep, totally understand. I do know one other couple that has theirs on the 29th, that and since I will be visiting my fiance in England during that time are the only reasons why we even considered doing it. Just was surprised that the turn around is so long esp when others heard back in 1-3 days. But that was a month ago so probably worse b/c of the Holidays. Thanks for your response.

You won't know if you don't ask - so hopefully you'll hear back from them soon. Plus, they always give super long time frames just as a bit of CYA. You might be pleasantly surprised and here from them sooner - and either way, you'll know.

I'm a bit biased towrds January 7th as that is when my husband had his interview 2 years ago! I can't believe how quickly time has flown by.

Good luck - I hope you hear something soon. :star:

Thanks for the reply. The response helps a lot. January 7th does sound like a lovely day. :) 2 years. Can't wait until we make that milestone. His medical is tomorrow. So exciting. See him in 10 days for the holidays. Life is good.
