My fiance had a horrible day and a total of 6 officers interviewed him. We already submitted my divorce decree from civil authorities in India, but now they want another one. They want a religious divorce decree. It does not make sense. In addtion to the loads of evidence we submitted they still want more besides even our engagment pictures. This is insanse.

Hi Star,

I'm extremely sorry to hear about the out come of your interview. I hope you can get all the paper work in on time. one of the good ways to look at this would be they didn't deny your visa. I will also suggest like Zahid did.. try to request for extention for your petition since your case is expiring in Feb and since Delhi takes long time to process paperwork. All the best and I will pray for you.

Thanks! But, its Mumbai and I don't know how long they are. I am going to get them to extend my petition as that will be the first thing on my list to do asap.

I am really sorry Star for all what happened at the interview and glad your fiance did a good job answering questions from 6 officers. Personally i fell it would have been hard for me too to answer six different officers. Hats off for your fiance.

I am not sure why they have asked for a religious divorse decree. As far as i know in Islam you dont get a divorse decree. All a person has to do is verbally accept the divorse infront of the priest but i may be wrong. God knows what that is all about. I can only say stay possitive star and submit everything what they have asked for and if you have some of the things ready on your end which the embassy people have asked for just send them through Fedex international priorty which will cost some $150 and the package will be here in India in three days time. I think your petition will expire on 1st Feb 2009 so dont worry about that as you have two more months but to be on the safer side just try to request extension of your petition. have faith in your love and you will go through. i will pry for you

Thank you Zahid for all your help :). Yes, I agree you really don't need a religious divorce decree when the words are pronounced between two witnesses already. I submitted an affidavit of this with my original pettion of the three witnesses who were present during the divorce. This was in addition to the civil divorce decree. I think they just want to make sure everything is in order. But, I am going to provide them anything and everything. I am not giving up on this. I am proud of my fiance to have put up with 6 officers and manage to still remain so positive about it. Wow, I think I would have just fainted if all these people grilled me. I hate interviews (.

Your welcome Star. I know how hard it is to face a round table interview or to to face diffrent people interviewing you. Being an HR Manager and interviewing people almost everyday do give me an idea of the feelings of candidates. Thank God i never grill anyone :)

Actually, India has been giving people hard times about this. Another girl I spoke to had married an Indian man and they wanted proof that she had converted to Islam. I dont know why, but for some reason, they wanted a certificate or something stating that she was officially a Muslim. I dont know whatever happened with that, but I just remember that situation. I dunno why they are being like that. We are having enough issues with Pakistan. One of my friends was in Admin Processing for 5 months then they denied the visa because the embassy thought she was still married to her ex husband. Dunno how that happened. Odd. Well, anyhow. Good luck Star. Take care.

They completely grilled him. Even asked so many personal questions about me that is really none of their business. But, at the end managed to tell him as long as he submit what they require that he should be fine. They put him through a lot at the interview. What should I do next? Shall I contact the embassy to get the extension first, as I can get the documents in a 2 to 3 weeks to my fiance. This is really unfair the questions they asked him, but he managed to survive. The officers asked him same questions in different ways to put him off track, but he managed to survive all the questions. Now we just got to get them what they want.

if your close to your end date of the petition to be on the safe side i would request extension just to put that at rest.....

if they told him it will be fine if he submits the items do it as fast as you can........and he needs to be congratulated for getting past all that.......im not sure perviz could have held up to that many people interviewing him.......ur a lucky girl ((((hugs)))) prayers duas and lots of warm happy thoughts sending to you
