Well lets start at the beginning.

If you deside to get married in your country .. you will use a K-3 visa NOT .. a K-1 visa.

with a K-3 visa the time to get here is a little longer ..wait .. but you don't have the 90 days to have to

get married here .. since you are already married in your country.

I also don't think you have a Status change either since you would already be legally married. But would

need the EAD ... card to work until you got all your paper work done for SSNO and other things.

If you wait and file a K-1 Visa and get married when you get your K-1 fromt the U.S. Embassy there.

Then you have 90 days to decide to get married and be MARRIED at the end of the 90 days.

MOST of us get married in about 45 days and use the other 45 days doing the AOS paperwork to change

the wifes status.

SO you see by what you decide to do about getting MARRIED also decides what type of VISA you are qualified

for

K-1 getting married in the U.S.

K-3 Already married outside the U.S. in another country

There is a Guide on the home page of Visajourney you really need to both read it.

Hope this helps

Get married in the US, after you arrive on a K-1 visa. K-1 is a fiancee visa, so if you marry in Cambodia you are no longer fiancees, so you shouldn't use a k-1, that would be visa fraud and get you a lifetime ban from the US.

look the the whole ceremony and all that in cambodia but do the k1 fiance visa because it only takes a year unless you want to take longer for her to get here

I've you've applied for a K-1 visa you must marry in the US within 90 days of your entry. You cannot marry in a foreign country. If you marry in Cambodia at any point, either before or after you recieve your K-1, your status will be as a spouse to a USC, and thus your K-1 fiance(e) visa would be invalidated. If getting married in Cambodia is of the greatest importance, then you should reconsider your visa choice. You can marry in Cambodia and file for a K-3 or a CR-1 after the marriage takes place.

not an adjustment of status question... moving to spousal visa forum as the OP indicates a desire for a foreign marriage

YMMV

hey Dyna - tell your fiance that if you two marry whilst a K-1 visa is 'in process' - then the K-1 will be considered useless. If the Embassy learns you are already married, on interview day (for the K-1 visa) then that visa will be cancelled, you cannot come into the USA on 'that' visa.

He'll have to refile a new petition, not a K-1, but an I-130 petition, starting all over with a new timeline, new process, new forms, new everything..

Perhaps would be better to have 'engagement party' for you two, for your family and friends, in your country, prior to you leaving ???

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Dyna, I see that you have already gone through the K1 visa process and passed the interview, congrats! When I went, my fiance also wanted to do something for her parents. I explained to her because we did a K1 we could not, so we decided to do a Juop Lieang. You need to remember that you must marry in the US and not in Cambodia or otherwise you will have to start over with the spouse Visa. Again congradulations and enjoy getting through the first hurdle. :) Dar
