Hi, i guess it depends on your decision. When i decided to use my husband's last name, i did it as the way phil gov't do in terms of marriage, first name - maiden name (father's lastname) - husband's last name. I didn't apply anything in my maiden name so i really don't wna retain my maiden name, also im about to renew my passport, in phils gov't it usually when u got married ur maiden name (father's lastname) will gonna be ur middlename after youve got married, but in US they say u have all the freewill not to change anything in ur name as being single, or change ur name for a change, anyway as ive said really its your own decison, but think first .. if does make any complicated problems in dealing with documents again someday.

hope it helps.

If you are taking your husbands name, then you use THAT name from now on on every form you fill our for the gov't.

Your 485, 765, 131 should all be filled in using the last name you want to go by.

I took my husbands name, so my forms were all filled out with my married name. There is a box for maiden name on most of the forms you will fill out, and you will put your maiden name in there if you are taking your husbands name.

Hope this helps.

when we filed for AOS i always used my wife's last name when it was required (I am a guy) but when it asked for the USC's name then always used her married name and had no issues with that.

i actually have not yet officially changed my name with social security (i'm the USC). i just figured it might be less confusing if i used my maiden name as my official name with the government...at least until this immigration stuff is behind us.

everywhere else, i use a hyphenated name...my maiden name and his last name.

it's amazing that in 2006, this is still confusing for people. when i tell them my last name is hyphenated, i get the strangest looks. lol
