Hey Ells!! and everyone else!! I'm just too lazy to change my name. One of these day. I need to get on it with changing my name in real life too. I feel like I'm half Shaughnessy and half Thompson right now. I got my social changed but was too late with my husbands so now we have to wait until he gets his work permit (or whatever it's called). We also can't get him a license until he gets his AOS approved. Speaking of: Congrats Ells!!!!!

I'm so out of the loop now so sorry for other congrats I missed.

I did want to say MSTEE way to go starting a new thread!!! I'm very inpressed. Also thanks for looking out for me on that post.

Hope everyone has a good rest of the week!!

Enjoy the rest of your week as well!

I feel 'ya but in our situation...things slowly changed over the years. Like he still treats her like a baby...he doesn't want her to walk around the mall by herself (even when we're at the same mall). At 17...she's old enough to drive to the mall.

I'm not sure if D met your dawtah before he came to the US some couples don't have that option -- with me, I couldn't move forward until my son met my husband a few times.

Why doesn't he want her to walk around the mall alone? Why does he feel that way?

No, he didn't meet her before. Not sure if would make a difference at this stage...we've been living together as a family for 5 years. I've know plenty of couples who kids met their spouses before and things did not work out. As times goes by, things change.

My daughter has never given us a reason not to trust her...he just feels like if something happens to her (kidnap) he will be responsible.

Awwwww, that's actually kind of sweet. He's over-protective of her. He needs to learn to teach her to be safe and let her life her life. You can't protect them from everything.

Yes, he is a wonderful stepfather to her. He really cares about her but sometimes I believe you have to be a little flexible with the rules the older they get. This is just a hump in the road.

I agree. I sort of call them guidelines now. Still rules; but more or less giving them information and seeing what they actually do with them. I remember being a teenager. You are itching for your independence.

Hang in there, Shem.
