All I can say is it is tough. Things started out great, I NEVER thought Louis and Tierra would not get along.

I know Tierra can be jealous of Louis and now she has to share me. I do my best to make this a happy family.

There has to be a mutual respect between Louis and I. We will not always agree on everything.

Exactly...I feel the same way. Things are always not going to be easy. We discuss, find a solution and move on.

one person can't be the only one working on a happy home...if i'm pulling and ur pushing where does that get us?

Chiney - My family means EVERYTHING to me. Nothing is one sided..unless you are with us 24/7...it's easy to judge.

where am i making judgments?

OMG! I just had the best sandwich for lunch... fresh mozzarella, mesculin, sweet onions, yellow peppers and this spicy apple pepper chutney! I want more!!

Philly... I am sorry about your family stuff. You know Louis and I have been arguing about Tierra lately. He gets on her about EVERYTHING and when I ask him to cool out it usually ends up in a big argument. I am not sure what to do. I have tried to tell him that he needs to show more love, patience and caring... dont sweat the small stuff. Of course he thinks my way is all wrong... * sigh * .... one day at a time!

That sandwich sounds sooo good, I just ate steamed carrots and squash with jerk seasoning ( BORING)

I'm sorry Irie, I know its so frustrating with these family issues, one thing I try not to do is let the boys come between Damian and I. I know it's extremely hard in your situation but you both have to sort it out come to an agreement and be consistent cause if not it will cause a rift.... I pray everything works out Cat, the family drama is the worse! :luv:

in this American culture its easier to say dont sweat the small stuff..we have to remember the step parent is looked at as the outsider..ur child will play on the fact UR MY MOM and HE"S NOT MY DAD..u have to set the rules and make sur eshe gets it..if he "gets" on for something..make sure u speak about it..don't dismiss his discipline...in the future ur going to need his backing and he wont give it because u have set the pace of "its not that serious"..one day it will be THAT serious..Tierra is a big girl..she understands..

You always have words of wisdom for us, I need to add you to my list for updates about these pickney ( hush Lawny mi slow)

Well my kids treat Steve better than they treat me!

Girl I would be happy with that at this point LOL

Coming along great *whispering, I still have to get shoes - don't tell JG or Philly* lol

Seriously things are going well, just a few last minute things to get... The nice part is 3 of the vj couples

will be attending.. Mad Yardie representation!!!! :)

Yes we will be in the building Hubby with his pointy shoes and all ( Hush Lawny ) LOL

But Kimora fresh like her mommy.................. No wonda he ave issues!

SUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS :luv:

Philly....so sorry you have to deal with this MESS.....why can't everyone just get along?????DAMN!!! Really?? Well, hopefully you will look back in 3 months and say....wow-we got through it and we all survived! My son (remember I sent him away to Louisiana after he was acting an azz) will be back for good in 2 weeks.....hmmmmm, so I may be with you in the frustration soon.... He was supposed to stay all school year but there were "issues" so home he comes! He did improve his grades and he does realize that home was really not so bad...so we will see....

Thanks Jamerican, LOL about the 3 months its been 8 months since Hubby arrived and it seemed for a brief stint it was easing up a likkle but it just got 100x's worse! I wanted to send him to either JA or Haiti with family but timing was all messed up and I realize I need to deal with these issues here...

That is great your son improved his grades that means he is trying and that is a great effort on this part. I hope that when he comes home he doesn't fall back into the same cycle.... (F)

Morning/Afternoon Yardies!

Just in & out real quick....we are back from the AOS interview & we are approved! God truly blessed us even with a really nice officer....Officer Thomas who just so happens to be married to a Grenadan man. She's also a Florida gal so she understands how it is to be from a warm place. We seemed to chat more about food, weather & what not more than interview questions. Lehi ended up answering the bulk of questions & the lady was really understanding of his lack of knowledge of details on things like dates. I'll tell the full story & review this evening when we get home. We are back out to have some lunch before poor honey has to have a root canal at 1:00. Thanks Yardies for all your encouragement! You all are the best!

i'm not a professional in any kind of therapy..i'm talking about kids and behavior..based on my experience with my child and my husband her bilogical dad..i recognized alot of my faults..and he did what he felt was the best thing then and that was to allow me to parent her thinking that would take care of the issue..of course it did not..i'm just saying we cannot dismiss the step parents parenting..we should always give the backing..no one is perfect...and alot of us spoil out kids and we feel no one else has the right to speak to them any kind of way..and that affects a step parent

Chiney, I know it may not solve everything one time. But I can only take it day by day. I would love to go to family counseling but that is not in the budget right now. I also now how stress can effect Louis' attitude.

Louis has no children so this is all new to him. We will have to work this out as a family.

I hope you can work it out, the good thing is Tierra is still young so it can be done, not like my hard-headed a** monsters!!!

LOL..how old are ur kids Mstee?

18 and 14.. AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR THEM TO GET OUT!!!!! lol

Mine are 17 and 14.....I feel your pain.

See I knew I wasn't alone...

its hard as heck,

but steph just turned 8, i don't know how much tierra gets out w/ ppl that are not her fam, but when they do and act like the world revolves around them.. its not a pretty sight.. and steph is a caring child.. she was cold and i offered to turn up the heat but she said "no mama, i don't want everybody else to burn up"

she is the first to talk to roger and laugh w/ him, but when she in her "drama queen" stage.. all bets are off..

she hasn't done anything to roger, its the way she acts w/ me that he does not like.. but he just sits there and looks at me like "are you serious?"

he says when his kids come, i will see how he is w/ them, he will not let them talk and act the way i let my kids.. i dont say much, cuz i know they could be better even ive seen MUUUCCCCHHHHHH worse.. case in point HIS OWN JAMAICAN COUSINS... RUUUUDDDDEE TO RASSSSSSSSS

at the same time, i agree w/ shems.. roger hasnt tried to discipline them, but when he does????? i will let him know.. LOOK, if you are going to discipline, you have to love up on them too.. WHEN do you ask them about a show they are watching or whats going on at school.. you expect them to be these mannerable, talkative angels to you, and you just sit back and speak when they speak to you and reap all the benefits ????? NO WAY.. they are children BUT its a 2 way street! he has been trying.. HERE AND THERE..... but he can do much better too..

I think kids are the devil! Just kidding.

Raising kids is hard and there is no right or wrong way to do it. Everyone has different styles.

I have been criticized for how I have raised my kids by some people. They say I am too lenient on them. Why, I ask? Cause my kids (17 year old boy, 14 year old girl) make straight A's? Cause my son is taking his first year of college courses FREE in high school? Cause my son got a job the very day he turned 16? Cause they take/have taken care of their elderly great-grandmother, aunts, grandparents, my little nephew? Cause they show respect to everyone.....even if I have to remind them sometimes? Cause they actually talk to me and ask my opinion on important issues effecting them?

My kids are good kids. How we got here was a struggle sometimes. I didn't want little robots (although they are surprisingly like me in many ways!). I wanted them to have interests and minds and whatever else all their own. I just wanted them respectful, hard working, and loving children. I wanted them safe and secure. I say I have done a fine job.

But, as long as you know YOUR rules and somehow get them to obey them, you can take a different path to get there. You will all find your way.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip
