My point is that if there was more intermingling among members outside just their regions, it would help negate any festering hostility towards one group or another. This thread and some of the responses is a case in point. There are a lot of VJ members from other regions that have a tainted view of Filipinas in general. While this regional subforum provides a sort of cultural safe haven, the downside is that it can also breed contempt. That's why it would help if Fil/Am, particularly Filipinas, would venture out into the other forums, especially in Off Topic, to help dispel any misconceptions as well as diffuse any contempt.

I would tend to disagree...

The few times I have wandered out to Off Topic I found most of it is swamped with politics... with both sides very firmly entrenched, each with little or no tolerance for opposing opinions...

What is not simply shouted to silence, dipped in ridicule or sarcasm, is dismissed as stupidity...

Its not a place I would suggest anyone go unless they are looking for a fight...

The extremists prowling OT will infest and over run any thread that seems to have even the slightest hint that the OP does not also follow their narrow point of view...

Perhaps the OP was purely curious. She (JelloShotGirl) married a Pinoy who may just be an ideal husband and she assumes that all Filipino guys make a good partner. Now she wants to know why we Pinays have married an American when we could have settled for an admirable Pinoy the way she did.

Or confused. For starters, she's no Pinay. She just started a thread that drives everyone crazy and they are all eager to give their two cents worth. Bet my bottom dollar she doesn't even care anyway. Crazy!

I am married to a Filipino USC but I know one reason from my bestfriend's point of view..She is married to a white guy.

She was a frustrated child star, when we were young she would always attend auditions but always end up in failure.

It's always the mestizo/meztisa who has the edge in reaching stardom, and none for dark skinned kids like her.

Growing up, she wanted to be married to a white guy, as long as he had brown, blue, green or gray eyes so she would have beautiful children.

Her plan is to put her children in auditions to make them models or child actors, to fulfill her longtime dream.

Now she has a 2 year old son from a handsome white guy and we joke about her plans of bringing her son to a modeling agency

But her priorities have change a lot, now it's about building a relationship with God, enjoying her husband and kid
