Question regarding I-131 and explanation of reason for leaving...

I am about to submit my AOS I-485 package and i am including the I-131. I do not have any intention of returning home (PI) unless one of my family dies. I think i should attach an extra sheet of paper explaining that i am only filing the I-131 in case there is a family emergency. Does anyone have an example of what i could attach to explain this to them?

Also, on the I-131, in part 3, number 3, it asks for a DHS office....what do i put there?

Thanks for any info.

You really don't need a reason for AP and you certainly don't need a full-page explanation - in your case, I might simply use the space provided on the form to write "Travel date(s) unknown but in the event of urgent need.'

Also, on the I-131, in part 3, number 3, it asks for a DHS office....what do i put there?

If you/your-spouse were in removal/deportation etc proceedings, you'd know which DHS office. Otherwise I'm presuming you are checking "No" to the first part of the question

Well.. presumably you're adjusting status from the US (while living here) so I can't imagine you'd want the AP documents to go to PI. (Most people will select "To the address shown in Part 2", which I also presume is your home address.)

Thanks for taking the time and helping me, but i checked the box labeled "D" on Part 2, only box "F" asks for an address, (which i didn't check), so there is no address filled out anywhere in Part 2...only Part 1 has my USA address.

I was using the VJ example form to fill it out and it shows box "D" as being checked...which doesn't ask me to provide an address for Part 2.

I see.. you're correct - you'd leave the portions below the tick-box "More than 1 trip" in section 7 blank. (As shown in the example form.)

And it looks like if you did decide to include a brief explanation as to why you may want AP - you'll need to attach a separate addendum (I could have sworn there was a small space provided, obviously not.) No real proof is needed for AP unless you're applying for emergency purposes and you need the request expedited (then you'd need some proof.)
