Hello everyone :star:

It seems as if it has been forever since I have posted on the MENA boards (probably since last year) but I have been visiting and keeping up with everyone! My husband is here in the USA now el hamdulillah and has been for about a year and a half... LOTS of adjustments going on but inshAllah all will be well :)

Now here is my question: some of you, if not all, are going through this experience (of bringing someone from abroad to the US to adjust to so many different things, etc). My hubby is having some issues with acquiring a job with his college degree, even though he had it evaluated by World Education Services, and they said it was valid in the USA, and equivalent to a degree here in the IT field. Does he need to start over? I mean he is kind of tired of all the part time jobs, etc, and I try to tell him that these things take time... but how long does it take? Does anyone have experience with a family member who came to the USA with an IT degree? Does he need to obtain some sort of certification? I would hate for him to start from scratch... but maybe that is what he needs to do. :( I guess part of my worry is that it will be difficult once I go back to school (grad school inshAllah) and cannot work a full time job like I do now, and he is still working part time, retail, etc....

Any advice friends? :) Just pray that everything will be ok :) I wish his issues were missing home, etc (haha he seems to be just fine in that department) but i would love to see him happy in the career world :)

Again, I miss you all! And I hope all is well! :luv:

whatever it takes...or how my heart breaks...i will be right here waiting for you... 636.gif

IT is a difficult field these days with many jobs being outsourced overseas. Further it's jobs in general that are difficult to secure. Many who are US educated and/or have 10+ years experience can't find jobs. I would encourage you and him to secure a job that provides educational assistance. I got 1/2 my master's degree paid for by my company, ~$75,000 and I only had to stay with them 2 years or else would have been on the hook to pay it back. Some retail jobs offer this as a benefit.
