Hi Guys,

Just want to say, looks like we were approved!

On March 5, 2010, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before receiving your card, please call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

During this step the formal decision (approved/denied) is written and the decision notice is mailed and/or emailed to the applicant/petitioner. You can use our current processing time to gauge when you can expect to receive a final decision.

That last part makes me a little nervous, but I think this is it. I will wait to see what the letter says in the mail. And I didn't get an email about this, I had to check my status online.

Hey girl, so happy for you!!:dance: No more paperwork for 2 years!! :D

One other thing I will mention, now that we are approved. (I got another email today saying that the card was mailed) We did NOT submit the medical. Yes we did receive an RFE. But the RFE simply stated that the medical was over a year old. So I took a chance and wrote back saying that the medical was current. I also attached copies of the medical, with the RFE. We filled and signed out all parts on the I-693 when I submitted it originally. I don't know if that set us apart from other people who received RFE's. And I am not saying other people should go this route. But we didn't want to shell out another $100+ dollars for something that was done already. So it worked for us. I tried Dr. Arnold but he retired. So just wanted to let you guys know that for December fillers, there was a success story of not going to a Civil Surgeon for the I-693.

I wish everyone else speedy recoveries...and perhaps some of us will meet up again when it's time to remove conditions.

Hey girl, so happy for you!!:dance: No more paperwork for 2 years!! :D

Thanks Beba! I hope your interview goes well!

Nat- we sent in the I-693 with it signed and filled out except for the medical information that was to be filled out by the civil surgeon. I also sent in the copy of the medical done in the Dominican Republic. Then when we got the RFE for having an outdated exam, I again sent in a letter explaining it was recent, and another copy of the medical showing the correct date.

We had our AOS interview today and we were approved.

Feel a huge sense of relief. Interview went well -- we were very prepared and organized and this was duly noted only a minute into the interview. Husband was asked embarrassing questions such as my birthdate and our anniversary which he successfully answered (all the while inwardly chuckling that most husbands might have a ''blond moment'' and mess up on the actual dates). We were in an out in under 20 minutes for the actual interview.

Best to all of us on this journey.

Hey Canam2010.... Congrats on your approval!!! it sounds that your USCIS experience was very pleasant.... my wife's interview is in two weeks, hopefully we'll have the same outcome as you guys... now, I do have a request if you do not mind posting when you receive your permanent resident card, Green Card, because I am a little preoccupeid about getting the Green Card on time for a trip my wife and I have planned in April...good luck on your following processes...

Hey guys, we had our interview yesterday and were approved!

When you first walk in, you must walk through metal detectors, etc. We got there at our scheduled time and were told to hand the interview letter at window 2. We walked over to the lady at the window and she asked us if we needed an interpreter. We told her that we already had one but she told us that they did not accept family members as interpreters and that they would provide one for us. We were told to wait for my husband's name to be called in a separate waiting area, section C. We waited about 20-30 minutes after which someone came by and called out about 4-5 people and lead us to another waiting area upstairs. Upstairs there was a room of about 40-50 people waiting to be interviewed. We waited roughly about 50 minutes before my husband's name was called. We were lead by the CO to a room and were asked to remain standing while she read the oath. She said it in english and asked that I translate the oath for him in spanish. Once we were both sworn in we took a seat. She asked to see all the documentation that we were asked to bring. Then she asked me a slew of questions...very basic:

-Where did you two meet?

-Where did he used to work?

-What does he do for a living now?

-What is his date of birth?

-When did he arrive in the country?

...etc

Then she handed back all the paperwork, and asked to keep one photograph of the day we got married with all of our family members in it for her file. Then she called (using speaker phone) a number and requested a spanish interpreter. She gave the interpreter his A#, then the interpreter introduced herself and asked if he understood her. Once he said yes, the CO started asking the same questions that she had asked me a few minutes earlier to my husband. Once she was done she took his passport and wrote in one of the blank pages "I-485 pending <date> <her name>" (not exactly, but something to that effect). She told us that the resident card would arrive in 2-3 weeks. She reminded us that it was conditional and we needed to apply for the 10-yr card 90 days prior to its expiration. All in all the interview itself took about 10 minutes.

No more paperwork for 2 yrs...WOO HOO!!!

Thank you so much. Definitely a big weight has been lifted off our shoulders. I was just in Mexico last week on a business trip. The weather was lovely! I'm sure you guys will have a wonderful time. Call the Mexican consulate first, I don't think he needs a visa. I think with his GC he is good to travel, but of course verify first.

I will check. But I just had some Dominican friends that went to Mexico, and they all needed visas. Nice place for a business trip!

Been a month that i got EAD, AP..Need to know whats happening. Someone please help.

I am not sure if I understand correctly, but my suggestion is:

1) Check the USCIS website using your case number (for the one that belongs to the AOS, because if you received the other two EAD and AP and those case numbers are no good for your quest of info about your AOS)....your case should be something like EACXXXXXXXXXX (total of 13 characters, the X are numeric characters). If the website shows the same basic case info : your case has been received, bla bla bla..., then you need to make an appointment with your local USCIS office using Infopass) and take all your paperwork with you and ask an immigration officer why you have not heard about them.

2) If your case is not shown on the website, call the USCIS phone number for customer service: Once you call 1 (800) 375-5283, press the following keys:

- 1

- 2

- 3

after pressing those numbers in that order with 1 or two second in between them, it will get you to an operator that is going to ask you some questions... and that person will ask you the case number which after giving it they well see that they do not have the case info either.... the 1st level customer service reps only see what you can see form the website.... so they will tell you that you are going to get transfered to a higher level customer service rep, who is actually an immigration officer, and that person will have for sure your case info...

Now, keep the following in mind.. the offer of getting transfered to a second level rep, has to be given by the rep not rquested by you, because most of the time they will not transfer you.... Also, this only works if the case is not online... meaning on the website you had access to.... if the case is shown on the website just follow the instructions above because the customer seervice rep will not have more info...

I hope this help in your quest to find info about your case...

Regards

Also...

FYI: Your case might have been worked on.... there is this colloquial term called "touch" which means that the case has been updated....or that someone at least looked at your case.... you can check this by going into your account at the USCIS website and go to your portfolio, and you'll see the date of last update...

Please update your timeline....
