The numbers you cite as well, also include his donations to the Congressional Black Caucaus which technically don't count as they are still considered political contributions.

It was a best seller because many conservative magazines, newspapers and organizations were using the book as a loss-leader. Listening to Mark Levin's radio show, I've heard it advertized by at least 5 companies for $5 or less.

Five Bucks? Pffft. I can get a footlong at Subways for that. It's got more substance than Palin's book, I'm sure.

you are sure? have you read it?

No, but neither has Sarah. She's reportedly looking forward to reading her book, though.

Palin Looking Forward to Reading Her Book

‘Looks Like A Page-turner,' Says Former Guv

NEW YORK - Amid the publicity blitz for her new book, Going Rogue, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin said today that "she was looking forward to reading it, big time."

The book has already been a publishing sensation, rocketing to number one on the New York Times bestseller list for Fiction.

Gov. Palin said that the book caught her interest as she was promoting it on Oprah last week.

"From everything I've said about it, it sure seems to be a page-turner," she said. "As soon as I'm off this book tour I can't wait to sink my teeth into it."

yeah, that's your wet dream.

I know you think you're being witty and humorous here, but there seems to be none. Care to explain?

"prove" that this is "why" it was a best seller.

and keep in mind that being used as a loss leader is actually a compliment.

Loss leader a compliment? I'm not sure you understand the concept. But I do supposed that it depends on your perspective. It does lead to inflated sales numbers though. Here is some proof, although I doubt you'll even read it

SOURCE

it is a compliment. let's say you wrote a book (i don't know you to be a writer), would they use your book as a loss leader? the fact that they are using her book to bring about other sales is a compliment. britney spears, micheal jackson, elvis.... all have been used as loss leaders. i understand the concept - lower the price on a "popular" item to bring people to the store while hoping they'll buy something else too.

to a degree, you are right, a smaller price does lead to more sales, but if people were not interested, it would not matter if it were .50, they still would not buy it.

I'm pretty sure that the book is 5.00 with the sign up of a free trial to the magazine.

you are sure? have you read it?

again, palin is not my cup of tea, but i just love how she makes leftard brains explode.

They don't have to read it. If the leftard media says its true, they believe it. Or whatever Rachel Madcow says.

Charitable donations increase in size and percentage of AGI as one's income grows. There's nothing unusual about it. The higher your AGI, the higher your disposable income and the higher your tax incentive to donate.

That aside, TY for disproving your claim made earlier that the "majority" of the money went to Wright's Church. The bama's donated a total of $27,500.00 in 2005 and 2006 to the Church out of over $137,000.00 in donations made over those two years. Clearly, that's not the majority of the donations.

I take it you've never worked in marketing or advertising. This would explain a lot. If the book were really that popular and people were really that supportive, there would be no need to slash the price by 60-75%. I don't doubt the book would have sold a lot of copies on it's own with the normal $24.95 pricetag, just not nearly at the level that is currently being reported. To be fair, this isn't some sort of conservative scheme, this is a marketing scheme and has been used for the past 30+ years by various products. It's just as deceptive if it's done for her book as it was for michael moore's book.

Ok poor wording... The LARGEST contributions.. CBC and a dance studio, as far as i can tell the rest is not disclosed.

And no, it didn't rise as his income rose. As a percentage it increased. That is irrespective to the actual dollar amount.

Its public image manipulation. She wants to run for president, donating proceeds from a book about her life to a fund for crime victims of a national outrage makes her look like she actually does care about the little guy (as well as supporting the troops).

Its quite obvious what its about.

Last first, re-read the statement I made previously. Donations tend to grow both in terms of gross amount as well as in terms of percentage of AGI as one's income grows.

And you're still off on the donations to the Church - the largest donations were not to the Church. out of 77K in 2005, the Obama's donate merely 5K to the Church while giving 25K to the IL Reading Council, 20K to a Rochelle Lee Fund, 16K to CARE and 11K to misc charities. In 2006, the largest donation was indeed to the Church. That's a far cry from both your previous statements, though.
