James and I didn't realize we needed to get a total of four passport style photos for his AOS package (two for I-485, two for I-765) so we made a run to the post office the other day to get some more since Kinkos (where we got the first two) was pretty far away and the post office is close. I asked the lady if the photos are passport specified, she says yes, so we go in a little room and she takes them and gives us this weird looking packet and said don't open it until you're ready to use the pictures (kind of looked like an old Polaroid picture but you couldn't see the pictures). James was suspicious about it (he's always right!) but I said I was sure they would look fine. We open up the picture packet today to find two blurry pictures attached together that we have to do our best to cut to specifications. After I started to cut the pictures apart I realized they weren't even close to the right size; they were about 1/4 of an inch too narrow to start off with so there was no way I could cut them to size if they weren't big enough to start. Needless to say I am so mad that I paid $15 for two pictures that are worthless to us! I'm gonna go in there tommorow and demand a refund - I even have a ruler in my purse so I can prove to them that they aren't even close to the correct size for passport photos. The ones from Kinko's were a $1.50 cheaper too! :P

Just wanted to share my rant and caution anyone who goes to the post office for their passport style photos!

Let us know if you get your money back, I'm curious to see what they say :)

Do you live near a Walgreens or a Walmart, they're much cheaper there. I think I paid $7.99 at Walgreens for 2 pics.

Yeah we do live near a Walgreens but I must admit I'm a bit nervous to get them anywhere but Kinko's now in case they get messed up again! I'll report back tommorow on if I get my money back. I better, I'm bringing in a rule and an entire printout on what passport photos are supposed to look like to show that these aren't right!

Sigh, no refund for us. The lady said she was pretty sure her manager would say no to a refund but as he was in a conference call we would have had to wait for a long time to find out. She did retake the pictures but they were still completely horrible (I mean, there is not supposed to be a 1/4" white stripe on each side of the photo with James being off center, overexposed, and blurry). We just gave up and went to Kinko's and got more pictures that actually look right.
