I'm hoping I don't have to go to get it repaired in a shop but here's the problem. I dropped a half mug of hot offee on my laptop keyboard earlier and whilst everything seems to be ok I have one letter on the keyboard thats not working at all! As you probably realise it's the letter thats starts offee and "rap this ould ost me a fortune!!!"

Anyway (this is serious by the way!! lol) any helpful hints would be great!

Our Second Anniversary

I want to succeed in America where, unlike Britain, they do not regard ambition as being the same as eating babies.

The National Rifle Association says that, "Guns don't kill people, people do," but I think the gun helps, you know? I just think just standing there going, "Bang!" That's not going to kill too many people, is it? You'd have to have a really dodgy heart to have that happen.

There's a huge hole in the whole Flood drama, because anything that could float or swim got away scot-free, and it was the idea to wipe out everything, He didn't say, "I will kill everything, except the floating ones and the swimming ones, who will get out due to a loophole."

Shut it off and give it plenty of time to completely dry out, it might be okay after that..MIGHT

I have spilled tea on my keyboard and after leaving it for around 24 hours to dry up everything worked fine, but shut it off so you don't short anything out

After fussing at my kids for having drinks around the computers, I tipped over a plastic cup FULL of water all over the keyboard of my laptop a few months ago. I reacted quickly by yanking the plug and turning it upside down.... I left it dry that way for a few days and then turned it on. I received an error, like it wasn't finding anything and shut it off... left it for a week... It's working perfectly now, but it was water, nothing sticky like coffee or soda might be...

I had also dismantled some of it to really let it dry (took the battery out) and my only problem now is that the space bar doesn't work... couldn't get it back on. So it's a pain. If I'm using it for anything more than Skype, I attach an external keyboard. Works fine otherwise.

Happy drying!!

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

You should be able to remove the keyboard even on a laptop (check mfg documents or website for instructions). Make sure you clean up anything under and between keys with a DRY cloth. Then let the system sit for a while. Once its all clean you can replace the keyboard and hopefully you should be good to go. Do not do as my idiot brother-in-law did and get a blowdryer and try to instantly dry up the spill--this resulted in melted keys on his keypad--and the system never worked since.

If it was straight coffee then it shouldn't cause perm damage but if you had sugar in your coffee then it will need to be taken apart and cleaned with alcohol. The keyboards are removable, each brand is different, and not that hard to clean.
