Just off hand, and I'd love to do some research, I can think of a lot of atrocities committed by Christians (including murder) towards others.... in America alone we have slavery in our history as a start, followed by other racists acts of violence, moving on to violence toward homosexuals and then the abortion doctors as mentioned above. If someone else can beat me to the research I'd love to see it. How many of the mass murderers in the last 15 years alone have been Christian?

And correct me if I'm wrong...but wasn't there a couple of events such as.....oh, I don't know.... THE INQUISITION, THE CRUSADES and THE HOLOCAUST that were all led by those who didn't tolerate the belief systems of others and committed genocide?

But my point was (and still is) that extremist beliefs and behavior that blur the boundaries of humane treatment and respect of others should not be tolerated from any source.

I'd say you were brainwashed because I'd heard those same lines repeatedly on OT but something tells me you always probably believed that stuff. Do you mouth off in Pakistan like that about the faults of Pakistan? I doubt it.

I think the bigger issue here is the private life of many public people being reported by the media. Most folks in public positions know better than to post private views on public forums but if this was posted by the mayor and set to "friends only" then obviously one of his "friends" sent this to the media. Politicians are supposed to express their views in public, not in private.

I also believe this guy has a good shot at running for governor of Tennesee! Maybe he preempted this post to rally support of his campaign in the next election. Who knows. And really, who cares?

This is why politics makes me puke. If you're a politician and you don't like what Obama's doing, take it to your rep and get them to introduce legislation to block his actions, don't just b!tch about it on facebook.

Let's get real here, I seriously doubt that the US President has time to check with broadcasting schedules and purposely plots to block the "Christian" message inside a Charlie Brown cartoon. Plus, this particular special is only broadcasted at least 20 times between now and Christmas.

As far as the President's religious beliefs....get real there also. This sounds like your trying to stir up trouble in an already troubled world and that's the last thing any of us needs.

I'm Christian, my husband is Muslim and we love each other dearly and we're both wondeful, peac-loving, spiritual people. Muslims are 93% wonderful....Christians are 93% wonderful...it's the 7% of crazy religious zealots in the whole lot of things that create so many problems in this world. Do you want to be part of the 93% or the 7%?

I agree with your whole post except for the magnitude. There are tons of wacky, obnoxious, and perhaps crazy Christians (look at the original post). But tens of thousands of people are murdered and commit suicide in the name of Allah annually. Murders in the name of a Christian God in the last couple centuries total a couple dozen abortion doctors. It's not anywhere close to the same magnitude.

No distortion--the tens-of-thousands annually stated by SMR is accounted by Muslim victims alone (examples the 500,000 cent-percent-African Muslims grotesquely murdered in Darfur since 2003 by "Arab" Muslim government in Khartoum and its "janjaweed"; the 100,000+ non-Pashtun Muslims murdered grotesquely by Taliban and their Pakistan ISI backers 1996-2001).

Partly correct.

• Common mistake is to combine Inquisition (records show 4,000 murdered specifically as result during entire time--half of them in a period of 5 years under Torqemada)--not at all a genocide.
• crusades were actually a supposed REaction of nominal (Vikings "converted" for benefits) Christians to oppression of their brethren by Caliphate--but in reality excuse to plunder (practically a given with Vikings)
