The interview was F' up... They told me I need to go to DAS for a background check after I leave the Embassy..

I am a US Citizen.. What the F would they need that for? So I went to the DAS and paid 42,000 Pesoes and was told I need to sign a release form for Maria to pick it up next week and then bring it back to the Embassy for further review... :angry::angry::angry:

Visa is pending because I did not have a DAS certificate.............. What kind of crazy chit is this....F'n A-Holes..

Hey guys long time no see... Im still around here on this crazy journey lol. Dam sorry to hear about that drew hope everything works out for you. Just heard today that the US embassy in Bangkok will be closed for a while untill all the fighting and all the redshirt stuff calms down there. What! That is crazy, what drugs are they smoking. How can they do a background on a foreigner? I have never heard of this. I am sorry you had to deal with that #######. Hopefully your situation is resolved fast as possible.

I'm really sorry that your interview did not go as smooth as planned. Hopefully they'll resolve it soon and you won't have to cancel Maria's flight to US. Are they requesting a police report or the certificate of immigration? I know it's difficult, but hang in there...it's only a minor set back.

It's not exactly a background check. The police report states whether you, as a US citizen, have been arrested in Colombia. The certificado de migratorio states how many times you have entered and left the country. It is not common to ask a US citizen for these documents, but if the CO notices a red flag in your past, then they can request it. Everyone's case is different so no need to panic and request for these documents unless asked. If your past is clean then no need to worry.

As you know I had Cocaine posession charges from 20 years ago so it was a red flag..Any arrest from the past will cause this to happen at any embassy in any country. They are looking into both my entry and exits and if I was ever arrested in Colombia..EXACTLY..Anybody who answered YES to the IMBRA question about being arrested for anything listed then they will most likely have the same thing happen to them. I was shocked as chit when he told me that I needed to get this done. It was good for me I was there and was able to go to DAS in time as they were closing in an hour and I was leaving the next day..I got lucky there..Had I not been at the interview it would have been a big problem getting this done.

You guys might not know this, but I consider myself a bit of a loner. I tend to think of myself as a one-man wolf pack. But when my sister brought Doug home, I knew he was one of my own. And my wolf pack... it grew by one. So there... there were two of us in the wolf pack... I was alone first in the pack, and then Doug joined in later. And six months ago, when Doug introduced me to you guys, I thought, "Wait a second, could it be?" And now I know for sure, I just added two more guys to my wolf pack. Four of us wolves, running around the desert together, in Las Vegas, looking for strippers and cocaine. So tonight, I make a toast!

Thanks, I hope the same...My heart is broken without my Maria..and for it to be for this reason also broke her heart.

She knew about this before the interview but neither of us expected me to be sent to DAS for additional background checks.

This is very RARE that this happened..I have no worries because I am clean in Colombia........ :thumbs:

Thanks, I hope the same...My heart is broken without my Maria..and for it to be for this reason also broke her heart.

She knew about this before the interview but neither of us expected me to be sent to DAS for additional background checks.

This is very RARE that this happened..I have no worries because I am clean in Colombia........ :thumbs:

I feel for you and I am pulling for you, that's what I like about our group and this site, I feel like we are here for each other in the good times and the bad times. I know it has helped me through this process. I have an additional hill to climb after the interview, we are waiting for a custody document for my fiancee's son. The lawyer said he could do it in 6 months. August makes 6 months. I am hoping and praying it could be ready before August because I am on vacation June and July. It would be the perfect time for them arrive here.
