Thanks, I'm headed out in 2 weeks.. I am hoping she'll have visa in-hand when I get there.. We're going to spend a week between Manila, Bohol, and Davao City.. Unfortunately, she won't be coming here until July 7th which gives me just 59 days to get my place "fiancee-ready" before she arrives.

Jared,

It's funny to hear you say that you are getting your place "fiancee-ready". I am doing the same thing...I guess we wouldn't make good "housewives". Our priorities are a little different from our fiancees.

Have a safe and enjoyable vacation.

Effing Expedia somehow dropped off my middle initial from my ticket reservation... and also put a wrong month for my birth date for my return ticket...

Arghhhh... I'm pretty sure TSA can let go of not having a middle initial on a ticket, but a birth date... called the airline and they are not helpful at all hehe

All in all, at this time tomorrow, I should be in the air :P

Have a great trip. Soon, they will be charging an accuracy fee.

My fiancee Karen passed her medical exam yesterday, and her interview is scheduled for April 27!  :dancing: :dancing:   :dancing: :dancing:    One obstacle down, one more to go!

Congratulations and good luck! Thanks for your help!

Sometimes that's the only way to do it!

We are right behind you, physical is next week, Interview on May 6. She wants me to come there and fly back to here with her so I am trying to figure out when she will actually have the visa. I have a young daughter who I am responsible for so I can't play too long in the Philippines. They asked a lot of questions when I called to schedule the physical, her full name, address, phone number, Email address, etc. I just had to tell a little white lie that she received a notice from the embassy. Good luck to Karen on her interview.

Is everyone experiencing our worthless dollar? When I met Cary in October, 2008, it was about 50 pesos to a dollar. According to Western Union the rate is 43.18. I know the actual is higher. I transfer in dollars cause WU is about a peso light per dollar and doesn't charge an additional fee, but still more then 10% against the Philippine peso?

Yeah, it looks like you're hot on our trail, just behind us on nearly every step by about a week! I think both of us are setting a good pace, slightly ahead of the average. Karen wants to fly here with me too, since the only time she's been on a plane was with me from Manila to Calbayog. I don't blame her -- those 14-hour flights are long and can be scary!

The Manila embassy says 5-10 business days to mail the passport back to the address listed, but I also read somewhere here on VJ that you can request to pick it up in person in only 2 days! I have not verified that yet, but it might be something you want to look into.

They asked a lot of questions when I called to schedule the physical, her full name, address, phone number, Email address, etc. I just had to tell a little white lie that she received a notice from the embassy. Good luck to Karen on her interview.

Same here about the questions -- I had to double-check her address, since I forgot the zip code! Karen still hasn't received her letter yet, but I'm pretty sure the Manila embassy sent it to her on April 7! But it was so hard sometimes to hear the Pinay at the U.S. Embassy, so I am not sure of the date they received her packet from the NVC or when they mailed out the letter.

Thanks! Good luck to Cary on her interview!

Yes, I remember 50 php/$1 US! Just to let you know, I use Xoom, which has lower fees than Western Union, and the rate last week was 44 php/$1 US. That rate still isn't great, but it's better than WU!

If you're sending $ to Philippines, it's best to send USD. Your fiancee's can exchange it for a higher rate than Western Union will provide, and the fee isn't any more. Xoom it is higher.

@PJ - yup those all have to come down.. No photos of exes, no Shakira posters.. I'm still not motivated yet to get my place ready, maybe when I get back in May and the heat is on..

@Mark - LOL, I've got a lot of work to do.. I've been living the care-free easy life for too long now. All my messy habits (clothes everywhere) just isn't going to fly when the little boss gets here.

@PJ - there's a chance I might drive down.. my summer weekends are starting to fill up fast with family BBQ's and weekend trips to Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, etc.. We'll talk when it gets a little closer, see what everyone is up to.. I certainly appreciate the invitation.

Just getting ahead on the DS-230, and had a question concerning Line 14 - 16. Since I am applying for a K1 for my fiancée, should I place an "N/A" for the portion of the form asking for "Spouse's" name, address, and occupation? Moreover, should I do the same for Line 31-a, since it's asking if I (referring back to "Spouse" will accompany her back to the States? Seems like an easy question, but I feel really strange not putting my name, address, occupation, and so on. I plan on being with her during her interview too. I guess I just need some reassurance. Thanks for any help! :)
