What is the typical wait from the time one receives an email for NOA2 approval to when one receive a hard copy in the mail? Should we be worried if it has been seven days?

No. It takes a while sometimes. Meanwhile just call NVC and see about your case. Make sure it's gotten there and so on and so forth

Thanks, as always. How are things with you? Try the Willow Inn yet?

Cary and Jim

Things are going ok. We are waiting on our case to be entered into the system. Then we can schedule an interview and get this thing over with.

Haven't had a chance to stop by the Willow Inn yet though. Might give it a shot over the weekend.

Hi everyone, I received the approval notice from the USCIS last week, dated Mar, 18th. Called the NVC 3 days later and they gave me the receipt number for the embassy in Brazil (RDJ). Today I called the NVC one more time and the case left NVC on Mar, 26th to Rio de Janeiro. I them asked the NVC about the pack3 being sent out from Rio de Janeiro to my fiancee and they told me that for K-1 visas there is no need for medical exams and the next step now will be schedule the interview. Anyone could please tell me if that is the normal procedure? Why do I see lots of people talking about medical in their country? I'm a bit confused now since the rep told me that K-1 visas are different than when you file form I-130. Thanks in advance!!

What you need to do is listen less to people in NVC talking about consulate procedures.

Please look up your regional forums. You will find all the information you need for Brazil there.

And :time:

Oi!

i am from brazil and we are from same embassy, rio de janeiro. U have to do medical, the list of medicals are at US embassy website http://www.embaixadaamericana.org.br/index.php?action=materia&id=2415&submenu=rio.php&itemmenu=58

what we dont need to do is shcedule our interview or send something back to consulate, they do everything to us. U just need to email the consulate asking when is ur interview or waiting till receive ur package with the date, but all documents u bring the day of ur interview, we dont send nothing back to them.

There's ways. And let's just leave it at that

Our ever knowing captain works in mysterious ways.

Maybe someone can help me out with a quick curiosity, but, when I have to fill out the Affidavit of Support, I'm going to have my step-dad fill one out as well because I'm currently unemployed. I do have money and savings, but my new job doesn't start until late April, so I've been cooking, cleaning, running errands, planning a wedding, etc for the past few months since I just graduated college in November, and cooking is no small task in this house when you have 3 teenage brothers who eat everything and then make a mess afterwards. It helps my Mom out, but whatever. Both my Mom and my step-dad own their own businesses, and my step-dad makes over $100,000 a year (not to flaunt our money, he's worked hard to get where he is).. will that still be okay in the eyes of the govuhment? We'll be living with my family until we have enough money to move out, so he won't be a public menace or whatever they fear. We promise he won't go on food stamps, etc. Just curious to see if anyone has some insight.

I'm hoping April will be our month for approvals.. gooo, VSC, go!

Before Journey:

Met online in 2002 as friends. Fell in love in 2005. Got engaged in 2010.

K-1 Journey, January 2010-July 2010:

NOA1: January 29. RFE: April 21. NOA2: June 4. Interview: July 15. Visa in hand: July 20. POE: July 22.

July 24, 2010: Married in front of 150 of our loved ones on a beautiful, sunny day. Living happily ever after and oh so thankful that 5 years of a long distance relationship and 7 months of a visa process is condensed into one line.

Wedding pictures! Because I'm shameless. http://s956.photobucket.com/albums/ae47/AmeriDaneWedding/

Adjustment of Status Journey, January 2011-March 2011:

January 25: NOA1 for AOS and EAD. Feb 5: Bio appointment received. Feb 7: RFE. Feb 11: Sent RFE response. Feb 23: AOS transfered to CSC. Feb 25: Biometrics. March 11: EAD approved! March 19: Received EAD. March 21: AOS approved! March 25: GC in hand!

And we'll live happily ever after.. for the next 2 years, anyway.

Mark,

This number is not on the embassy website. I called it today and it was answered even though the Embassy was closed in Bogota and the secretary told me this number is to check to see if it is in the system only . No mention of Wed. 2-4 PM...Check it out.The only wednesday is to ask about case status . This number is to confirm they have entered in their database...And Maria did not get the pak #3 yet I had my guy in Bogota download it in advance and sit with Maria for 2 hours yesterday and fill it out with her . She is faxing it to them 3-30-10.

Drew,

I called the number today and the person I talked to said that I had to call back between 2-4 PM at the same number. I hate dealing with these government agencies, because you never know what answer you will get and whether it is correct. I called the DOS @202-663-1225 x1, x0 to talk to a live person and they told me that my petition arrived at the embassy last week and the P3 was mailed out last week also. They can't give you an exact date, but at least I know the P3 was mailed.

The Captain and the Parrot have done a great job keeping us on course to the Land of NOA2's and our near future journey to the Isle of Embassies. Well, I have to climb the mast to the crowsnest and keep me good eye on the horizon for our next port of call.

You have nothing to worry about. The poverty level for 2 persons is 125% of $18,212 which is $22,765, so your step-dad is WAY over the limit.

Good luck with your journey.
