Hey Jim AOS fees are $1010, but as a bonus, if you file for Advanced Parole and the EAD (work permit) at the same time, you don't pay extra for those. Additionally, there will be a fee for a civil surgeon to transfer vaccination info to the proper form, BUT you shouldn't have to pay for a full medical, as they just did one as part of the K1 process.

It's a bit steep (imho), but totally worth it, eh?

EDIT: Sorry, I realized I answered the "how much" but not the "what" part of your question. AOS is "adjustment of status," where the K1 visa holder, after coming to the US and getting married to the petitioner, adjusts their status to become a legal permanent resident, i.e. green card holder. So basically, this process is the one that allows them to remain and work legally in the US, as well as leave the country and return (which they CANNOT do until they have received advanced parole (AP).

14 April 2010: Interview (159 days) Approved!!

30 April 2010: Married!

AoS

18 May 2010: NOA1 for AoS, EAD and AP

8 June 2010: Case transferred to CSC

10 June 2010: Biometrics completed

31 July 2010: EAD and AP received!

9 Sept. 2010: RFE email for AoS

(RFE for medical. We replied with letter stating that it's not required since done overseas within one year)

18 January 2010: Interview - passed! Card production ordered!

Thanks!! they were silly, just "what did your fiancee do in Caracas when she lived here?" and "How did you meet?" ... he said they were very smiley and pleasant.
