Sure all this bickering is not helping that guy nor settling this situation. If you move into an area with a HOA, have to get permission first before doing anything, that's in your agreement when you buy the property. It's that simple, if you don't like what you read, go someplace else.

If you go into a bank that advertises zero per interest and sign your life away where that interest only applies to the first month in small print, then they want full payment with 20% closing cost after that month, and you don't read that before signing that contract, that is also your fault.

I am used to the English sytem where you can't fiddle people with small print. The English have the 'unfair contract terms' act which says that if contracts are too tough, the court will put the contract aside in favour of the consumer. Small print doesn't work in England.

Nothing like that in the US which is so far behind with protections for health/consumers/privacy etc. Here, a contract is a contract even if the last 10 lines are written in nano print

This does not apply to HOA agreements which are roughly the same in both countries. HOA's have to be careful, as if they are too nazi, then the publicity will scare people off and have the effect of lowering the house prices - the very thing they were trying to avoid.

I bet prices on the road we are discussing have gone down and would have gone down whether he won or lost because buyers would have seen the area as either letting anything go, or living next to a guy with expressive ideas on landscaping.

Balance and compromise is best and that's why the world was appalled at W who didn't apply either
