my fiancee has an interview for the k1 visa real soon. she was nervous so she went to a lawyer to see if we had all the paperwork correct. She said he found one mistake. on the I 134 form they want a copy of my tax return. I have my taxes done electronically with an accountant and then she gives me a copy. I sent a copy of my copy to my fiancee. She says it needs my signature. I told her i filed it electronically thats why it doesn´t have a signature it´s just a copy. Now she has me nervouse. do you really think they need my signature on a copy of my tax returns. They have the w2´s with it. pretty silly question just want everything correct.

What may help, is a letter from your accountant, on letterhead explaining your "electronic" tax filing status.

I believe they are simply looking for validation and authenticity of the document.

That should suffice for a manually signed return, which in your case, does not exist.

Your accountant may be able to offer some other "certified" validation. Check with them.

Good luck.

Sign a copy and send it to her. Or better yet, call the IRS automated system and get a free copy of your tax transcript. These are acceptable.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

I just wrote the Embassy in Guyana this week asking what they needed in regards to taxes, how many years and if it needs to be notorized and this was their response:

Only the most recent year, they did not want a notorized copy rather, "a copy of the taxes stamped and certified by the IRS. We will also accept an electronic printout from the IRS....We need is an IRS certified copy of your 1040 for the most recent year. This information may also be requested form the IRS at http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=110571,00.html. "

Or you can call 1-800-829-1040 - there is no fee

Call the same number that you call for your transcript what I did is I entered the wrong address that way they transfered me to someone to talk to then I asked her and she did it 3 minutes later! It's the 1040 number listed above and on the IRS website.
