Asalam Alikoum all... Ki dayra????

I posted b4 that I've already mailed the I-129f on the 17th. My question is one I probably should have asked prior..... Description of the circumstances under which we met... . I am a muslim, born in America, my birth name is Muslimah Al-Islam, I use my american last name for the most part, which is Houston, so there is no way I could lie about my religon. I just thought I would throw that out there so you may understand a lil bit better where I am going with this.

For that answer, I put that my marriage was arranged by both my family and my husbands family. (I will just try to get str8 to the point.... Both families are very close, as my uncle's wife, is the sister of my husband, and she is the one who prosed the marriage between the two of us, I hope I didnt lose anyone there!!!!) I also stated that in the Muslim religon you don't date; traditionally, there is no dating period. We communicated in various ways over the past year and decided to marry in April of 2006. As for not visiting prior to marriage, I used the money for a previous trip for my daughter so she could be at the wedding. Cost for her was the same as an adult.

Ok, my question for you all is................. AM I TOAST? I don't know what to expect. Please people be honest. I was as honest as can be with my answer, what do you think?? Also, should I have included my police record to save time, even thought they didnt ask 4 it?

CHOUKRAN AND MANY BLESSINGS TO YOU ALL!

Pray with me Forrest! Dear God, make me a bird so I can fly far. Far, far away from here..... Dear God, make me a bird so I can fly far. Far, far away from here!

Hey,

I am not sure about this because maybe they will see it as a cultural thing and it will be ok...

I know that sometimes when it is an arranged marriage the Consulate doesn't like that but I am not sure I hope someone else can give you some more insight.

Good luck!

I cannot answer your question about the police certificate because I don't know.

I don't think you will have a problem. A few people have run into issues where the consulate thought the marriage was arranged by a family member of the beneficiary who lives in the United States. However, I believe in all these cases the petitioner would not have cultural/religious reasons for an arranged marriage and they CO suspected payment. I don't think it will raise issues in your case since you have valid issues for an arranged marriage.

Best of luck to you.

I am one of those that the CO believes the marriage is arranged by a family member in the US, and now they have sent back our petition to the CIS with the recommendation that it be revoked. I'm not worried that it will be revoked because I have a ton of proof that our marriage is valid, they just haven't taken the time to see it yet.

I tell you this because I want you to be prepared. In ways I have an advantage, there is no proof of communication before him and I met. In ways you have the advantage, arranged marriages are your culture.

I wouldn't say that you were in error on telling them it was arranged, because it was. This is a part of your culture, and as such should be considered. The most important thing is that you recognize this as a potential flag when it comes to the interview. If you could go back and change the initial I-129F petition I think I would have sent a letter explaining the arrangement in detail so that it could have been addressed intially. but then again I have learned this from trial and error, so who could have expected you to know? Now is the time to start preparing for the interview. With this you must have enough evidence of your culture and traditions. My guess is that they will ask questions on this, and the more you are prepared the better. You have some time I assume to start thinking about how best to address this at the interview so you don't end up in the same situation as many of us are in. I don't mean to scare you, but rather to take this very seriously. Don't leave it up to your culture as enough proof, their goal is to find fraud, and that is their mindset, so don't trivialize this in the least. I don't remember now which consulate you are going through, but that can make a difference. Some consulates would rather work hard at their level to find out the facts, some don't want to bother, and will send it back.

I do wish the best for you, this is a very stressful time and you need all of the help and support you can get.

I am not exagerating!!! I am a hot mess, I dreamt about my husband last night, and I promise I woke up reaching for him, and when reality set in that I was STILL alone, I just pulled the blanket over my head, and I wanted to dissipate into nothing! :dead: How many of you have actually done that? It was soooooo real, (btw, it wasnt nothing like that!!) It was just a closeness that felt all too real and I COULD ACTUALLY SMELL HIS COLONGE, YALL! I do not know what I will do they try anything... Oh I am relieved to hear that. Those of us that have had our petitions returned have been accused of scaring people needlessly. That is not my intention at all. I see that I just don't know your sense of humor yet....lol

Oh do I know this feeling all too well. I think almost all of us here do. This is one heck of a difficult process, not only bureaucratically, but emotionally too. We are here to give support too. (F)

wa alaikum assalam wr wb,

Do you mind my asking what country you're going through? There have been people here who have only been with their SOs once prior to getting a visa. Perhaps Casa in Morocco isn't too thrilled about it, but other countries may be more open.
